is the most common thing to make sub boxes outta. My friend with his concrete and plywood LOL and well they POUND THE SH!T OUTTA HIS STANDARD CAB. and can be heard about a block away but ya he also has 3way 6x9's behind the seat and sony 3" mids in the doors so there's a perfect balance of BASS mids and high's and so nothing is really overpowering anything else. in my research of concrete either it pounds or sounds like crap and rings like a bell so if your lucky it's good if not then bummer you're out a $5 bag of concrete and some plywood time to get mdf. there is such thing as plexieglass boxes but ya usually they're used as windows in bandpass boxes, amp racks ect...

also for size you'll get really frusterated if u try to build a box that is perfect size for the air u need and also make it fit unless u have a van or something so what u should try to do is make it as big as u can that u see feasable. broken down make it fit then try to put air into it.
