Under the PCB

For those of you who have done the dual battery mod and placed the extra battery under the PCB, How did you do it? I've heard of flipping the PCB, but any other methods except mounting the battery outside the zip?

All of those little copper wires scare me.

Yea I looked under the pcb , but it looked to me the wires wouldnt let me open it enough that I could've put another batt. in.

u can do the 2 cell without flipping pcb, 3 cell u need to flip it to allow room

bagelbm 12-26-2002 12:24 PM

Could someone show me a picture of a duel being put in or the result.

bagelbm, heres some good instructions right here with pictures too http://www.geocities.com/pikamoy/Bunta2cellmod.html

thanks, but if i use a battery similar in voltage and mah, would everything run fine?

Epochracer34 12-27-2002 03:43 AM

u can use either nimh or nicad, just make sure you use all of one of all of the other for example if your going to use 2 or 3 100 mah nimh batteries, make sure they are all the same, DO NOT MIX NIMH AND NICAD. some people said they got away with it, but its too different chemistries. my 2 cell mod is 2 nimh 100 mah batteries that were stock zip batteries, my 3 cell is 3 nicad 50 mah's i got at my LHS, both work great

well the site isn''t working for me, i just need to know, is the 2nd battery perpendicular or parallel to the already existing one.

1 Attachment(s)
clear storm, if your going for speed, itll be perpidicular to 1st battery, the connections are as follows, the neg side of first batttery will no longer touch the neg terminal of the car, use tape or a piece of plastic to block it from touching. it will now be attached to the positive of the 2nd battery soldered together using a litle wire. the second batteries negative side will be the only thing touching the negative terminal of car, also soldered to it using some wire. the batteries themselves will only have one connection between themselves, the first battery will still contact the positive terminal like it did when it was stock. i know this sounds confusing, itll be easier to understand if you draw a diagram on a piece of paper, starting with 2 batteries side by side, one with pos on top, the other with pos on bottom, then draw connections using what i wrote as a guide, i tried to include a diagram, but it changed from what i had drawn in the message field when i posted. hope this helps you, im going to try to attach a diagram of buntas 2 cell to help you

Thanks for the info, but i am still trying to find a way for my 2nd battery to fit snugly beneath my PCB w/ cover. Some things that are connected to the PCB are in the way.

Epochracer34 12-27-2002 11:59 PM

your doing a 2 cell right? just put the 2nd cell in the chassis, then move the pcb aroung different ways til it fits, being careful not to break a wire
