i did the idler gear mod wow what a difference crawls over anything ,,? tho mess is kinda tight would graphite help ? thanks

it moves free with ou the motor alittle tight but not that bad as with motor , i guess ill have to space it up more thanks guys ,now its time for the 3 cell

What's happening with this mod is that the motor has to turn more times to turn the drive wheels, resulting in more power on the ground.
These MTs are obviously engineered out of the box for a balance of performance and running time based on the materials used. Any changes that fall outside the known ones are going to have an effect somewhere. I added another parallel-wired battery pack from a scrapped MT for more running time. |

Using a different motor will indeed change things, but at that point you can no longer draw a comparison in the same manner that we are. :rolleyes:
The amount of load will always reduce the battery time no matter what the gearing is. With the four-gear mod, the motor has to spin more times to move the truck the same distance, thus it's running for a longer time regardless of the amount of load. The tradeoff is that the load on the motor is reduced but it has to spin more to get the job done. The classic engineering trade-offs. You simply don't get something for nothing. |
For mine, i used small strips of ZZ packaging to raise the motor up enough so that the gears don't bind. It works pretty well........
