argh!

has anyone else had the problem of things getting unsoldered reeeally easy? my battery holders both need to be resoldered, even though i was pret carefull with them. its really annoying..

theMonster 01-28-2004 05:37 PM

hmmmmm

The solder joints I made between the cut battery wire and the battery holder have NEVER broke. The ones that the manufacturer did on the car HAVE ALL BROKE. Just goes to show that 10 year olds kids in Taiwan can't solder worth spit.

aperson 01-28-2004 08:38 PM

RS has 20/40 watt ones for about $22 theres a switch for 20 or 40 watt

RC 2NR 01-28-2004 10:46 PM

I've lost count on how many solder joints have broken, I'd say about 15.

The gun ones have a trigger...you press the trigger to heat it up. The guns take less time to heat up. A gun cost more too. The pen irons are sufficent for me (I've got a 25 watt).

I must be lucky. I have 3 xmods and so far I have only soldered one ant. wire and two motor capacitors back on. I have had them since early December and they are used hard!

i just got a soldering gun and re-soldered everything

I carry my solder station with me every race night, and there hasn't been a single night that we haven't needed to use it at least once...

moose 02-10-2004 05:58 PM

I've heard alot about solder stations. What all do the consist of? Whats the price range on one and where can you get one?
Thanks!

scatmanjohn01 02-10-2004 06:21 PM

actually, i notices that multi stranded wire tends to come unsoldered faster then single strand, since single strand is kinda springie ya know?

aperson 02-11-2004 08:18 PM

but single strand breaks easier if you move it too much. that stuff is used usually in house wiring.
