Got the tanks! Now what?

Hey guys, how about starting this little thread where we can share a bit info (after we get the tanks).

On the controller there is a "chip" that you can take off it... What is that thing for??? Does anybody have a clue?

Namuna 09-26-2002 11:18 AM

Hmmm, sounds like the memory chip. The Controller has to track shots, ammo and such and hence needs memory.

kosmos 09-26-2002 12:17 PM

Yeah probably something like that... There are just some things that we don't need to know :) But those things are great to play with!!! Speed is just fine (nothing close to the Digi Q cars, but those thing would be out of controll if they were that fast). I have already started dreaming about the sub's, and the wars you can have with those things!!! Oh forgot... Don't have a fishtank...

Namuna 09-26-2002 12:28 PM

Well then, I suggest you GET a fishtank!

And some LIVE fish too! I mean, if there's no innocent bystanders (the fish) gettin hurt...How REAL can a battle really be?

For me, I'll probably not be getting the fishtank (or rather won't be ALLOWED to get it). My Fiancé KNOWS that I'd be torpedo'ing the fish!!!

The "chip" is an eeprom that controls tank parameters in a battle mode: number of shots, reload speed, defensive/offensive, etc. If you try to control Panter with T34 chip it will behave like T34. I haven't tried it myself but I'm pretty sure it works like that. It would be pretty easy to verify.

kosmos 09-26-2002 12:55 PM

Thanks xsracer! You are probably right... I shall try it right away :)

Namuna: No doubt! You need fish (or small frogs -probably not the big frogs because sub might get eaten). Too bad that they don't make many upgrade part for the DigiQ... Try to imagine what you could do with a mini nuclear torpedo!!! I heard that the "Osama Hubby Shup" might have them later, but nobody knows where that damn shop is! :)
About the tanks, the firing range is very neat! I just tested long range firing, and both tank could register hits from about 1,5m (about 5 feet). And the good thing is that aparently it IR "canon" worsk more or less like a laser. So you really have to fire straight at the other tank to hit it!!!

Hey Kos,

Here's a simple question...How many Batteries does the controller take? And what kind?

xsracer 09-26-2002 02:48 PM

4 AA

kosmos 09-26-2002 03:03 PM

Wow!!! xsracer managed to read my mind!!! :D

chips removable?

i bet they're gonna make a "set it urself" module for it! :p

Wow, in that case it shouldn't be long until replacement chips surface to give you the fastest moving, fastest shooting etc. tank possible!

xsracer 09-27-2002 08:24 AM

Ok, here's updated info:

The chip does control tank's parameters. But... simply switching the chip WILL NOT make T34 behave like Panter like I originally assumed. Apparently, there are two components to a tank behavior - chip and something inside of the tank. If you just switch the chip, the controller will show number of shots recorded on the chip, but only the correct tank will be able to more, the other tank doesn't react.

Therefore, I don't see any future upgrades of the chip. What is poosible is that they will sell tank/chip combination without having to buy a controller. The same way you can buy DigiQ car by itself.

what's the deal on the magnet land mine thing?

is that a glitch or is it designed to do that?
