so you wana do wheelies?
http://mywebpages.comcast.net/myaaiko/putty.jpg
http://mywebpages.comcast.net/myaaiko/putty2.jpg i little bit of work but it costs about 7$ to do this mod to about 100 cars. you wouldnt believe how much it improved everything to do with the drive train. it is soo smooth. |
How does puttying the axles permenantly in place help you do wheelies?
lol it looks likle you ****ed ur car up
if you wanna wheelie without a wheelie bar and your putty, do my 3 cell mod, you wont be dissapointed. what dissapoint me though is that it likes to flip over alot which pisses me off.

wut kind of putty should u use
i used jbweld. epoxy with metal in it. the tube is a qtip
when put putty on it u cant change axles...right?
cuz i want to change my axles evry once and a while and still do wheelies. i have an R-Spec the fastest gears and hard tires and it still doesnt wheelie!!! |
well im also using 2 batteries. but no you cant change the axle very easily. i guess you could cut the epoxy. i think im gona have to reseat one of mine. im not happy with the tolerance. this is a very usful mod. especially if you have dual batteries. it runs much smoother.
well im not puting in a dual cell cuz i dont kno how to make a charger for 1
ok it is possible to switch axles. i cut the top layer of epoxy off and you can pull the tube out and wedge it back in there. im probably gona put more epoxy over it tho.
Hogjowlz rather than cutting away the epoxy, u could pull a wheel from the axle and slip it off.
Then glue the wheel back to the axle after! I only recommend this tho if uve done a 3cell mod, cos it loosens the wheel a lot ne way, I wouldnt do It 2 a nice axle! just a thought! |
i could do that but id be afraid the axle would wobble. if i can find a metal tube that fits the axle perfectly i will have to do that tho.
Theres got 2 b a better way for theses axles.
Mayb a snap on/off axle holder? or a peice if plastic that glues on,and can be snapped off easily. So we could change the gears. |
a brass tube would be good,it wouldnt hinder the movement of the axle.
i know that a metal tube would work best. the hard part is finding one that is the right diameter. you dont want it to be loose or the axle will wobble alover the place.
Try a rc model shop,My1 sells all sorts of tubing, right down to the small stuff.
hmm. good idea.
Hogjowls, since you're already tearing your chassis apart, why don't you try this experiment for me.
Get a brass tube that fits the axel snugly, it's ok if it slows it down. (let me finish;) ) Get some bushing grease from your hobby shop. Green Slime is good stuff, but Associate, or Team Losi stuff is good. The key is the Teflon. Then take a spare axel, and put it in your drill. Coat it with thegrease, and spin it in the brass tube, to break it in like you'd break in a bushing. Then spray out he tube with motor spray, or WD-40 to clean out the metal you've worn away, and run your car with your axels greased. See if that works. Should be super smooth, if it works out like when I broke in the bushings on my 1/10th scale cars Dave |
that was the plan from the beginning. the hard part is finding a metal tube that is the right diameter. i dropped teflon in the plastic tube already.
how can the axles move if theyre stuck..?
they aint. they are inside of a tube. why cant anyone read?
Does it run well hogs?
ohh...
