Need help with spinbrush!

How do u take out the motor do u just rip the whole thing apart or is there an easier way.

RedRSX 12-12-2003 09:41 PM

use a real motor...you do realize your using one out of a toothbrush right...god thats ghetto

itsme 12-12-2003 09:50 PM

...

From what I hear "ghetto" seems to be the way to go because it'll pwn joos s2... :P

RedRSX 12-12-2003 09:54 PM

I don't know when ghetto was "the way to go" but I try and use products mainly how they are meant to be used...and i guarantee that I could absolutley rape that retarted spinbrush motor...

jaubery 12-13-2003 09:25 AM

...and back to the original post..

If you have a dremel cut along the sides of the tooth brush along the seams. Then pull the two sides apart. Oh, remove the bats first and be careful pulling it apart the plastic might bite your fingers.

dEmOnRaCeR 12-13-2003 11:54 AM

OK thanx i got confused .
WHo knew mods like this were even ghetto

MicroSpeed 12-13-2003 11:59 AM

I used a small hammer:D :D

Btman 12-13-2003 01:14 PM

Are you guys using the spinbrush motor with a heatsink or bare? If you are not using a heatsink does the motor run real hot? The spinbrush motor is probably built by the same company that makes rc car motors (mabuchi, best motors...) it just has different specs to meet the needs of an electric toothbrush. If it just happens to work well in an xmods so be it.

MicroSpeed 12-13-2003 03:01 PM

Actually, I have never gotten the spinbrush motor to get hot. I guess it's because it's made to be a consumer product, and most people don't like holding a hot toothbrush:D

RedRSX 12-13-2003 09:08 PM

hey good call douche bag...i do have the NML...yea...what now queer

Rotary Freak 12-13-2003 09:24 PM

Uh, listen man..either way you cut it Mr. RSX, ITS A FRICKING PLASTIC TOY. Its meant for having fun with, not for serious flame wars over performance, don't you think people like me have a good laugh over people using "Dentist Gas" in their real cars for performance? Do I walk around dissing their performance part though, No. As long as its working, and it really is boosting their power, that is all that matters. Same goes for people using the Spinbrush mod, I think its a pretty sweet idea. I've noticed the motor technology in alot of other places, but never thought to look inside a toothbrush, and as long as the results don't lie, use whatever you can to make your plastic toy run like a bat out of hell. Don't get so defensive over something so dumb. Thats all I've got to say.

RedRSX 12-13-2003 10:27 PM

geez...you feel pretty strongly about this...LOL

Shane_882002 12-14-2003 12:41 AM

Go

I just smashed the tooth brush across a wall and took the motor:D

Jesus you guys are so liberal.

geofroley 12-14-2003 07:58 AM

If the Crest Spinbrush motor was an XMOD motor what stage do you guys think it would be in??

RedRSX 12-14-2003 10:14 AM

the spinbrush motor would be a fractional stage...ya know, less then stage 1. Probs like 1/3 stage...pushing like 14,000rpm:D

geofroley 12-14-2003 11:24 AM

Dude stop denying the fact that it's a good motor. Your just jealous cause these guys got a great motor for $3.99 and you paid $40 for your NML so jsut shut up dude.

RedRSX 12-14-2003 12:34 PM

ok sorry...dude...ill stop dude, no need to get pissed dude

RedRSX 12-14-2003 10:42 PM

I haven't seen one yet...but if someone has one...i would actually like to see it, so that I could make a solid opinion about it

It is rather easy to open the SBP brush.. all you have to do is take a hammer and break open the bottom part.

I now only use the SBP motor in all 4 of my xmods. They are cheap buy very fast. Well not very fast, but the torque is a killer.... I use the 10 and 9 gear tooth on mine.

I did a test with the zip zap track tester using stock stage 2 and SBP motor.

(fpm= feet per min) (mpm= miles per min)
Stage 2 red = fpm=721, mpm=532
Stage 2 yellow = fpm 683, mpm=494

SBP red gear = fpm=800, mpm=587
SBP yellow gear = fpm=834, mpm=603

this is an avg. of 4 runs each.
10 foot drag strip with the zip zap speed checker set at the end.

I've also swap parts around and found that it really increase the speed and torque of the motor. I'm at school right now, and don't have the records with me.

but if your using the SBP motor, you will need to take the brushing off from one of the stock and put it into the SBP... other wise it will burn the brushing only after a few run.....

If ppl say that the SBP motor isn't fast. they are right, but the motor has crazy torque... from stand still to top speed is really quick, all you have to do is change the gear to a higher one to even out the torque with speed.

i've raced 6 ppl so far and haven't lost once, maybe a few times to my little bro who also has the same motor. Plus the motor does not heat up as fast as the stock ones do.

You are correct sir. Leave everything soldered to the brushes, and just desolder the caps from the motor can itself. Swap the whole thing over to the spin brush can.

Nathan 12-18-2003 06:23 PM

I've heard using a stage 2 armature makes for event better performance. Apperently the magnets are the only thing the Spin Brush motor has that is special, other than that it is pretty normal. And $4:D .

Ghetto rules. God helps those who help themselves. If no one ever ghetto rigged anything, we would not have cars or radios:D .

In the outskirts of Harleysville. About 10 minutes away from Souderton.
