Mystery of Bit Char-G range solved?
Over the passed month I have ordered 5 Bit Char-G cars. NONE of my cars have crippling capacitor.
My observations:
My original cards RX-7, Celica, and Yoshi Run fine. When I say original, I mean these were the first batch of cars. These are the cars that do not have a clear G stamped into the face plate of the controller. All 3 of these cars run perfectly, and have amazing range.
My newer cars an NSX-R and one of the Daytona racers (or my cars with the G) stutter and stop and have very poor range. I also noticed these cars have considerable longer antennas (5”) but the controllers have shorter antennas (1’) then the pre mentioned cars. The other cars have an antenna of about 3” and the controllers have a 1 ½’ antenna.
I have taken the time to open and photograph my controllers. My findings seem to coincide with my observations. The limited range controllers that, at first glance, appeared to be missing the crippling capacitor have one major alteration to the logic board.

I have yet to purchase a 4band controller or a booster car yet so I can not determine there properties at this time. I plan to order some this weekend however.
Additionally I am positive that these are all official Tommy cars. There are some knock off cars that
1) Do not have TOMY written on the box or the controller.
2) Have decals and markings not native to Bit Char-G
I would appreciate if people could comment on this theory of mine.
