well...i dunno if this one is gonna come out the way i want it, but if anything its gonna be crazy interesting...
i put some spray foam insulation on the track in kinda blob like things...the stuff is so sticky on my fingers that i had to spend 30 minutes getting it off with steel wool and sandpaper...not pleasent. Next time i use gloves.
After a couple of hours, i went down and trimmed the blobs down to manageable lumps with serrated knife (big mess) and then had dinner. Im gonna finish with that stuff maybe tonight....I will take a pic of it right now and put it up here soon. Its kinda rough looking so you will have to use your imagination.........

one word BONDO.... lol use a lightweight body filler for your bumps, hills, and jumps. It'll build up fast, drys fast depending on hardener, and is about $20 for a gallon. although don't use it with anything styrofoam because it'll eat right through that stuff unless of course you cover the styrofoam with a plastic or saran rap. if your stuff that's really light weight use fiberglass and resin. just a thought.
On a side note I started building my track yesterday. I layed out the course on autocad when i was bored at work. then I printed it out and cut out the road ways from the paper. I then stuck the paper onto my main track board as best I could. to make the track more interesting I went out and bought a can of rubber undercoating and sprayed that where the road was to be. it gave it a nice texture that is extremely tacky. I'm not sure how much maintanance is going to be involved with that but it should be pretty low because of how strong the undercoating is made to be. I then started cutting wooden dowels in 1" lengths for posts around the track. I'd like to find some type of strap, like what you would strap a box to a shipping crate with, for the track barriers.
Any ideas will be considered. Tell me what you think.
Chris

I found some stainless steal metal straping here at work that worked out perfectly besides getting it glued onto the posts.
