Stacking Mosfets

ive been thinking about using the mosfets from my old electronics and stack them on my new ones. i was wondering if it matters which way they are. like do they have to be on the exact same places or it doesnt matter. Thanks in advance.

I heard it does matter which way they go on. Are the mosfets your adding on from another xmod or somthing totally diffrent?

they're from my fried electronics. one of them is questionable of the way its on because when i tried to take one off with a torch and air compressor. i went to put it back on after it cooled and the torch litterally burned a hole in the electronics.

If you tried to take it off with a torch, don't expect it to ever work again...

I think I'm going to have to make a tutorial on FET removal.

A torch is not a viable option to replace a soldering iron.

i figured out how to safely remove them and did some practicing last night. heat up one side of the mosfet and stick a skinny screwdriver or hobby knife. then just take some needle nose pliers and heat up the other side and take it off. i found that they dont want to stay in place when you're soldering them on. could i superglue them together or should i use another kind of glue?

You were on the right track on that removal method, but if you want to do it the best way, get some of that super-fine wire wrapping wire from RS, strip it, and pass it underneath the pins of the side you are desoldering. If you do it gently, the pins will not get bent up, and the chip can easily be reinstalled.

The desoldering braid that RS sells is garbage. I will only use Chem-wick by Chemtronics. It doesn't fray and fall apart while you are using it like the RS stuff does. But yes, using desoldering braid before doing the wire trick is how I remove surface mount chips of all sizes.

the 4 black chips on the PCB board. ther are 8 pins coming out of each one.
you mean bending the pins that are still soldered on right?

there are 4 so i think that there are 2 Forward & 2 Reverse. when its in low only 1 each way is working and then its in High both are working each way. i think i may have to make this external. there are going to be some serious fitting problems getting the PCB back in.
