I saw they are 27 and 49 MHZ... does that mean you can only race 2?
Yup, only two at once. No way to mod them other than replacing the PCBs.

I stated with BitG's in 2001, but those pale when compared to the ZZ SE's.
I started with the original red Porsche 911 ZZ. I never bought a bit, though I did get a couple of clones like the early Motorworks. I never really liked the look of bits. They seemed way to cartoony and toyish to me.
I really liked the original Zips, though they drove like slugs. Each generation got better, and I was very pleased to see the release of the SEs. I have a nice collection of SEs, but had to weed through a lot of returns to get good cars. The quality control was always lacking on Zips. It was a crap shoot as to whether the car would even work out of the box. All things considered though, I love SEs.

they seem to market them more for kids, and that is ashame, since the only people I know using them are all over the age of 20.
Absolutely. RS missed yet another marketing boat there I think. I think the popularity of the line came from old farts like us buying for the nostalgia and wow factor associated with the functionality at that tiny scale. RS did manage to produce some cool muscle cars, so I know they recognized the potential, but they put way to much effort into flops like Cat in the Hat and Wild Thornberries. They should have narrowed their product line to the collectors and marketed them the way Nascar collectables are marketed-to adults. Improvements in chassis design and more collectable bodies would have made the Zips a staple at RS. They could have even increased the price to Epoch levels if they just made the Zips perform half as good as an Epoch.

My quest is for the best ZZ Se track and some type of Lap counter, that you do not need to drive thru a special area to trigger, I would like to see some micro RF Id's on these cars that are used for lap counting and scoring purposes.
That would be another great feature to add to an SEs PCB. It would cost pennies to add. Unfortunately, all that is available right now are the new MIcroZs. They are pretty much SEs that are very slightly larger. Problem is, you can only buy them in Canada at the Source. From what I understand, the Source is owned by Circuit City, so maybe, we may see them in the states some day. But I doubt it.
I got a member to send me one and I like them alot. They have a unique front servo and the steering and throttle are very smooth. The rims can be removed with a wrench like the ZZMT so hair and fluff are easy to get out. They have the standard SE lighting setup. These are definately the next generation of Zips. Or, what Zips could have been.

The new cars at the Source, can you run 6 at a time like the ZZ SE's? or you are stuck to channel 27 and 49 for only two cars racing?

I think there are 6 dedicated frequencies. Each car has a sticker on the bottom. The one I have is a 2. So, you can't switch frequencies.

I was talking about bits and the first Motorworks cars. Yup, they were fast and torquey, but they looked squished cartoony. The later MW were stretched to nearly Zip lengths and I liked them alot. I know that Zips weren't perfect representations of real cars, but bits and all of the squished clones didn't look like real cars at all and that always bugged me about them. They all have that Japanese cutesy quality to them. But, that's just me.

When I got my pixar cars today from RS clearance section and the truck kit for $1.97.
I made a track out of cardboard and with the lights plugged in only 4.5 laps. Unplugged lights got 41 laps, any suggestions?

any suggestions where to get the real track kit from?

That's a huge difference. I'd say you either have a flaw in your testing methods, or you should leave those lights unplugged. I haven't noticed that much difference in my Zips one way or the other. 4.5 laps would equal only several seconds of runtime and that can't be anywhere near right. If you are indeed getting 41 laps, which sounds about normal depending on the track, then I would test it some more to make sure and then discard the lights for another set.

I did it numerous times, with the lights 4.5 laps, the homemade track was about the size of a queen size bed. with no lights it was 41 time and time again.

I was able to find the real zipzaps tracks at a few local RS stores and needless to say bought them all.

I was a fool tho, bought 2 monster truck booster packs that I thought were for the zipzap cars.

The new real track was made with 1.5 track sets on my coffee table didnt do any lap counting, I will wait for my zipzaps lap counter that I got off ebay for 99 cents.
