I usually start by drilling a small hole in the window. That helps alot. Then I shave the window out, kinda like you are carving a peice of wood. This takes very little pressure on the blade of the knife. Be careful though, I cut my thumb last night doing it.

When I do stuff like that I use a scribe. I cut a piece of coat hanger and file it to a real sharp point, Then I SLOWLY go around and around till it's cut out----- Works for me

AND ALWAY CUT AWAY FROM YOUR SELF

Did something similar when I was a young kid. Cut 33% of my thumb nail off with a super sharp jackknife. Blood everywhere. No stitches or anything, just some funky cream and tons of bandages. Damn my parents were pissed at me for that (I hid it from them for 2 days before I asked to go to a hospital). Jack knives were added to my list of banned things that day...

Well, I wanted to keep it clean so I was constantly changing my bandage. It might have only been a day, that happened so long ago (6-7 years probably, when I was only 13) that I forgot a lot of it. It bled a lot and hurt like a bitch everytime I had to take the bandage off for a change. It was kind of funny since after the nail grew back, there was this sort of air pocket underneath it. It was kind freaky and dirt would get stuck in there uber easily. It look normal now tho.

Yeah xactos are bad, but a couple weeks ago I was soldering for the dual cell mod and touched the iron to my thumb and then flicked solder on my fingernail. Phuck that hurt!

its easier to get a match and heat up the tip of the blade...
either that, or leave the body under a desk lamp for a period of time till its warm...the warmer, the easier it is to slice
ive poked my hand a couple times, but it heals in a couple days
