I did a quad mod last night, I used the truck that has the bigger body so it all fits under there. I must say tho, I'm not as pleased with the resaults as I thought I would be. If there is any noticeable difference in speed it is very minimal. I can say however the run time is much longer, I got tired of playing with it before it was dead.

Should I have seen more increase in speed and power? Maybe I did something wrong?

The quad-cell should be much more powerful than the stock dual-cell. It should be a little hard to control with 4 cells, and have a slight tendency to flip onto its back when starting forward.

If you went from 2 cells to 4 cells, and only notice an increased run time, you may have accidentally hooked up the batteries in parallel instead of series. Parallel will give you extended run times (current). Series will give you more power (voltage). Here’s a diagram of how the batteries should be connected, if you are running both extra cells from the battery in the back of the truck.

Rock!

I went home at lunch to re-wire it.. I did have them in parallel. Now its awsome, much more fun than out of the box.

Thanks buzzbait.

also the more you charge it the better
I had to charge mine like 4 times to get the full power out of the batteries
and it didnt last too long
I added another 2 cells to the normal charger for a 3 cell car so is 6 cells chargeing a 3 cell car ok

I was charging the quad I did with my super brain... But last night I wired both of the chargers I had together.

First I only wired it so it used 2 batteries out of the second charger. Then I ran the trucks batteries all the way down (took about 40 mins btw) and used my newly wired 6 cell charger to charge it just for a test. It maxed the truck out at about 5.2 volts. So just to make sure it does the job right each time, I re-wired it to be an 8 cell charger... Still need ot test the 8 cell charger.

4*4 mod

has anyone tried to remove the gears and motor from the front wheels, to convert it to 2 wheel drive? is it possible?

They steer like a tank, so you need the 4wd to turn :|

I have now idea why you would want to remove 4wd from something that’s already 4wd… That’s not an upgrade, it’s a downgrade :\

2 wheel drive

making a 2 wheel drive truck may speed it up a bit, it will also get rid of excess weight. and if you run the dual motor to the back you can still steer, (like a digi q)

yeah but turning isnt as good because these are not porpotional speed
steering with 4 wheel drive is easier
Just put a 3rd cell in it will be fast enough

I know this thread is really old but....................I tried wiring my truck up with 2 extra button cells on back...........its wired perfectly fine. I think it's in my charger.........all I did was cut the plug off of the stock charger and rewired onto a 9 volt battry holder.............................What am I doing wrong, it doesnt work at all.

the 9 volt probably isnt supplying enough current to charge your batteries What I did was get a plug in wall transformer at the same voltage as the normal charger and use that to charge my tri cell truck
it works great

you should also charge it a couple of times

you also could have fried the batteries
