I have been using the Enegizer NiMH rechargeables with good results. A buddy of mine uses the Durcell one's, and he's been very happy with them. Be prepared to pay though. An 8 pack will run about 20 bucks, plus you will have to buy a charger.

if you go to a store, prepare to pay for a lot. If you look on ebay, you can get AAA Ni-mh for about $.80 - $1 per battery. Some of the lots come with chargers too.
The quality of some of those batteries are poor, but my favorite ones come from ebay. I have duracell ones, but they seem to run out pretty fast. If you buy a lot of 24 for $20, even if half of them are really good, you're still better off.

Another place you could try is batteryspace.com.

I use Energizer's 15 minute charger. It's pretty expensive at about $30, but it's worth every penny. The batteries are expensive. I paid a little less than $30 for 12 Energizer AAAs. I can pretty much run the car non stop now, running on 4, charging 4, and cooling 4 at the same time. I usually stop when I think the motor's getting too hot.

THe 15 min charger is great. I use it with my cheap-o batteries from ebay. I've charged them atleast 20 times without any problems. The special 15 minute batteries aren't necessary. Most of the time they are low capacity too (good marketing trick to use crap batteries and advertise short charging times to sell them for way too much).
Charging other batteries after letting the cool fills them up quite nicely too, even the ones that are supposed to handle the 15 minute charge. The quality of the charge is still more poor just because of the characteristics of a high amperage charge.
