...the project is far from dead. All final tests have gone very well (and I am somewhat excited that there are finally foam tires coming available for the d'NaNo, which will make the track even faster).

I've been side-tracked these last few months (bad pun) with a few work projects. I still intend to bring this to market, perhaps as early as this Fall; right now I am custom-building a couple of tracks for commerical customers. (which I enjoy) ....also, we will be working on a much larger road course over the summer to show-case what can be done with the system.

The main issue(s) are the actual size of the d'NaNo market in North America and the cost to make these tracks. Just understand that the market for $500+ tracks for the d'NaNo is not large enough to justify a full manufacturing-based business. Kyosho's horrible launch/marketing and their dismal understanding of the core hobbyists in North America (all-be-it in a poor economy) make it seem that the track makers and 3rd party part makers are carrying the entire business themselves, at least here in North America. (deep breath, rant finished; note to self not to hijack own thread . In short, the jury is out on the success of the d'NaNo itself; it's by no means a failure, but it hasn't "caught-on" like the Mini-Z did early part of the decade.
---
That said, the Porta-Trax do drive as good as they look and I'm sure the project will gain traction (another bad pun) as the economy recovers.
---
If you'd like a custom track, send me an email to lecherry@rogers.com with the dimensions of the track you are considering or the room you will be operating in. I will make some suggestions as to design and get you a price.

We will be hand-building a half-dozen or so custom tracks over the summer and can certainly squeeze in another one or two. - Lorne

Wow... well I'm glad the dNano marlet is actually picking up since HTUSA isn't the sole distributor for the dNano in the US anymore... while they had/have the best price for the dnanos, their marketing plan for getting them out to the public and creating awareness sucked... now there are quite a few places when I can dnano parts and cars, and I have done so... but that's also the advantage of living in southern california... we have RCKenon 20 minutes from my house, and I can get parts next day with regular shipping... or I can drive to Kyosho (Route 241 raceway) to race my cars and buy parts... or drive up north 45 minutes and race with a bunch of my friends at Brooker Tracker and buy cars and parts from them... and fnally... there is a HTUSA that actually still has Dnano car and parts... eventhough they aren't going to be carrying them anymore, they have quite a few small parts (batteries, tires, bearings, ball diffs), and cars in stock at good prices (got my Subaru for $130and got my 787 last year for $140) Dnanos are starting to catch on here as my friends and i go the the Local Mini-Z races and do demo runs, so we hope that they catch on... they are great little cars, and the only fault I've found with them is that the rear end chatters horribly when gong around turns and I cant' figure out how to remedy that... I've got a damper on it but it doesn't seem to do anything to help....

I wish you luck with the track... the prices DO seem steep when compared to what's available, but they seem cooler than anything I've seen out there..

I am friends with John at RCP, but I have to say... the seamless surface of these tracks, and the roll-ability for storage, is intriguing
