2nd to 3rd gen. Which is better?

Hey all. New to Zips, not new to RC. Did I make a mistake of buying a 2nd gen ZZ? I have the Starsky & Hutch Grand Turismo SE with the nitro motor and still get smoked by my coworkers Herbie Bug. Should I slap down another $20 or so bucks and get a 3rd gen ZZ? Is the 3rd gen any better then the 2nd? Help!!!
