Poor range
I have 6 celled and spinbrushed my XMod. I am experiencing several problems (alxes falling out, tires spinning off, etc) all of which I already know the solutions to. But my main problem is the lousy range. I already replaced the TX batt...
Outdoors in the clear I get about 15ft of good range then it starts cutting in and out for about 15 more feet. After that its out of range.
This wasnt much of a problem when she ran 9mph but now I can't even get her up to full speed before I go out of range.
What is the best way for me to solve this problem myself. I would like to get 50-60 feet of range or more.
Thanks! This site has been a great help for all I've modded : )

So are you saying that if I run the car (I tested mine) without the antenna attached then I blew 2 resistors that I need to replace?
Which 2 resistors?
Thanks.

You *may* have blown them. They are on the reciever board (where you plug the lights in), and they are green. If after making sure you have fresh batteries all around it still doesn't work, that's where I'd look. It's actually a pretty common failure, and it's pretty easy to fix.

so you are saying if the intenna touches the batteries then you can fry the resistors? My friend had that problem and gave me his xmod . I had that problem when i first got my xmod and i was a n00b at xmods adn i just took them off with a needle nose plier and it ran fine.

More often it's caused by an improper length antenna. But touching the antenna to the battery contacts can definitely do that.
