Kyosho dNaNo FAQ

Q1: What is the dNaNo?
A: Made by Kyosho, the dNaNo is a new offering of Radio Controlled car in the 1/43rd Scale.

Q2: What sets this apart from other RCs in the scale?
A: Here's the full list of features (items of particular interest bolded):
* 1/43-scale so it can easily fit in the palm of your hand.
* Operated by a 2.4GHz radio system so there are no crystals to fuss with.
* Each car has a built-in lap counter and each car has its own unique ID number. After a race, you will be able to review your results for the race and also bring up information on the entire life of your car.
* Powered by a LiPo battery pack.
* Optional light set will be available.
* Ports on the chassis allow you to plug in an optional traction control unit to make the car easier to control when cornering at speed.
* The car can be plugged into a computer so driving profiles can be customized.
* Each car comes completely assembled and includes a chassis for display purposes that has the true to scale wheels and tires mounted on it.
* A starter set will include the 2.4GHz transmitter, LiPo battery pack and charger. (These items are not included with the car)
* Transmitter only requires 4AAA batteries.
* 8 different bodies will be available, with new ones coming out each month there after.

Q3: When will it be available?
A: The dNaNo will only be available in Japan at initial release, no specifics yet as to when other Countries will receive shipments.

Q4: How much?
A: dNano line-up will be:
- Complete Chassis Set (16,275yen to 16,800yen, which is about $165US dollars)
- Starter Pack, which is the Transmitter/Lipo/Charger (11,550yen, which is about $113US dollars)
- Auto Scale Colletion, which is just the car (3,675yen to 4,200ye, which is about $35 to $40US dollars)
More details at http://dnano.jp/pinfo/index.html

Q5: Pictures?
A: Check out these links for some product pics...
- http://mini-zracer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=27423

Q6: There was mention of integrated lap-counter...Is it compatible with the Core System?
A: According to Tim Johnson of Kyosho..."Core did design the timing system for Kyosho".

Prices Revealed

Hey the site is up!!!

Looks like they will be availble April 18th!! At least in Japan!

It looks like prices are around 160bucks (BUT remember the value of the dollar is going down) for the chassis and body.

Starter kits of the remote, battery, and charger are 112 dollars.

New bodies are 40 bucks.

I want one BAD!!!

Here's the initial lineup:

Unfortunately Kyosho has informed us that the dNaNo will JP test market only initially.

Lightbulb

Addendum to Q3:

The way the dNaNo is being distributed in Japan is almost like a "franchise" - dealers must sign a contract w/ Kyosho, and there is a minimum initial order (2,000,000 Yen), including a track and lap counter. In addition, regularly scheduled races are mandatory, preventing online-only stores from being eligible to stock them at all. This summary is based on information from sources in both Japan and the US.

that will really suck it they do that when they are released in the US. We have no LHS in our area that will even support small scale. it's really could limit availability and sales in the long run.

Most Clubs in the US that would intigrate this into their racing are run by hobbiests not Hobby shops.

I would have to think Kyosho would be going in a different direction when marketing in the US. Their current strategy in the Japan/test market seems to be to prevent too many, if any, of these being sold in the US until Kyosho is ready to market them here.

If they are going to be at the RCX (dNaNo @ RCX) next week, then you can bet they are planning to market them here soon.

Yeah I was kind of thinking that when I herd about the intigrated transponder and being able to look up your fastest lap. What this means is you will have to pay everytime you want to use your car......at the local hobby shops track! Yuck!!!

Exspecially now that I will have a track in my basement!!!!
