Mini-Z MR-03 vs DNaNo
For the Mini-Z MR-03 users here, would you get DNaNo as your next car?
I will getting into RC car hobby and is looking for small size car to first play with and then later race. Can't not decide on DNaNo or Mini-Z MR-03, except that DNaNo is more expensive
- Is steering, cornering and speed bigger improvements than mini-z mr-03?
- Repairs and replacement parts harder on DNaNo since its smaller and is it more fragile?
- LiPo longer playing time than AAA? Isn't AAA cheaper to run?

We run both MR-03 and d'NaNo for event/party rentals. I spend a lot of time with each car and they are totally different in every respect.
Competitively, you'll find much more "action" with the Mini-z; d'NaNo has not really caught on. Unimaginative tracks, poor initial marketing and $24 for the same battery that the micro-flight crowd pays $5 dollars for, haven't helped. That said, they are still lots of fun and can be/need-to-be tuned just like the Mini-Z.
The cost for a fully hopped-up MR-03 exceeds that of the d'NaNo, simply because there is less to do on the d'NaNo, and fewer after-market parts that better Kysoho. Kyosho parts for either are expensive (overly so).
If there's a club running d'NaNos on something larger than the standard Kyosho track, go out and give it a try and see how you like it. Even though I'm hard on Kyosho, the d'NaNo is still a brilliant piece of engineering and light-years ahead of any other micro-scale that's ever been produced.
To be fair, d'NaNo is still in first generation; the Mini-Z is over 10 years old and that car has steadily improved and benefited from better 3rd party development, organized clubs and proper tracks.
Make sure you spend the extra $60-75 and get the programmable EX-5 transmitter and not the KT-18 for which ever car you pick. Makes a huge differnce.
Oh, and welcome to micro-scale!

ADHD at play here; forgot to answer your questions:
dNaNo uses very easy to change Lipos. They seem to last less than Mini-z though; although its not really an issue; either car will get you through any race less than 15 mins.
The new low-discharge-over-time NM-HI make a huge difference for the Mini-Z, very convenient. I'd still give the convenience edge to d'NaNo, . An AAA four-pack is cheaper than they Kyosho Lipo, but not worth worrying about, other than the fact that the Lipos cost less than a dollar to make and should thus be much, much cheaper.
d'NaNos have a very low mass and thus break very little, even on full-speed collisions. There is an issue with the front axle being so low to the ground that one hair will tweak the car and you cannot properly run on any fiber surface; hence you still need to do maintenance. MR-03 is well designed and your breakage will be mostly from collisions; the Kyosho bodies are still "brittle". Expect more repairs with the Mini-Z if you race with others.
Disregard everything I've said until you DRIVE both; all of the issues you've brought up are really non-issues; with perhaps the exception of breakage; for which the d'NaNo will certainly be cheaper in the long run.
