Since I have no replies, Ill assume the answer is yes. Can anyone take the time to at least point me to an active Combat Digi-q community?

Not dead yet . . .
but, I don't know of a more active Digi Q forum.
I got the Winter opposition set from Sigma Automotive. The price is reasonable, the service is good, shipment quick.
Why do you want the Winter opposition set? It looks like Konami is going to offer an opposition set that includes a Tiger, a Sherman, and some battlefield structures, in the future.

because
I dont want to wait, thats why!! I actually dont mind getting some without the controllable turrets and trying to mod them. A couple pages back there is a post about rewiring the electronics, and I think it can be done; especially after viewing the video, I think the author of that post was just wiring things wrong. If anything, I want to buy one and try to modify it, for the pure fun of it : )
I actually dont think the ones with the controllable turret will be out anytime soon. Why should they release them? They JUST released the first version, its way too early for an upgrade to hit the market...i think they are going to hold on to them for a while to try and maximize profit.

Rotating turrets
Firebox.com sell tanks with rotating turrets...about the same size as the Konami tanks (40 x 60 x 34mm) with infrared...obviously the gears and motors must be on a similar scale...I have some of these, and apart from no propotional control they work ok...£19.99 each or 3 for £49.99...Dollar price probably cheaper...might be the answer for Konami modding...other parts might well fit...go on, you know it makes sense...
