Looks like a good find. I wouldn't be too concerned about the run time, as most races don't last nearly that long.
If you find that the run time is too short, then you could put one of those packs on each side and run them in parallel... then you'll double the run time.
How is the weight compared to the AAAs?

Ever hear of a one hour main? It's basically a one hour endurance race. Not saying that there will be a one hour main with these, but it's definitaly possible.

When I was racing, 5 minute races were the norm. 1/12th scale used to run up to 8 minute races, but nothing longer than that. This was about 15 years ago, however...

it weighs about the same as 2 cells adding in the wire solder and conecting pices. and i hadnt thought about running them parallel. means i would have to rewire them but i think it would be worth it for the added runtime.

endurance racing could be a new thing to try out with these cars.
Instead of the fastest, most tricked out car, go for the highest average speed (massive cornering stability, drivetrain efficiency) and run time. I assume it will be a far more difficult feat as far as car tweaking is concerned...well unless you go with a custom battery setup.
Maybe for certain races, a limit on the type of batteries you can give it should be specified, since it's too easy to get massive amounts of power/runtime from playing with the types/quantities of batteries being used to run the car.
