I was just thinking about this the other day. So far, I've spent over $1000. I've dropped 200-250 on GPM parts, I've bought 5 cars and am going to buy a 6th (blown boards, etc.), gone through over 20 cans of tamiya paint, 2 separate aluminum briefcases to store it, $40 worth of antistatic foam to store it, every RS hop-up, including the aluminum rims, just dropped $100 on *bearings*, got another $100 in motor parts for custom ones, with another couple of hundred planned on that, external turbo, couple of custom antennas. I'm about to buy about $400 worth of track with plans to buy another $400 more in the future, and I'm buying some electronics to design and build a custom lap counter, which will probably end up being another 200 or so, so all-in-all, to get my XMODS to the point where I'm what I would consider it to be "finished", I'll have dropped about 2 grand on it. Expensive as it's been, though, it's been a lot of fun tricking it out. I've even considered taking my GPM parts to a jeweler to see if I can get them recast in titanium. Hell, I've even considered buying high-temp superconducting wire for a motor

Too much!!@!!!

I wish I knew about the backdoor deals at RS. I would have gotten a starter kit for anywhere between free.99 and $20. Would have left me more $$$ for mods.

2 x starter kits, 50 ea = 100
2 x awd 15 = 30
2 x Team Orion Elite Micro motor 10 = 20
2 x VXB ball bearings 20 + tax and shipping = 50
1 x Body kit for yellow skyline 13 = 13
2 x alloy lugnuts 3.5 = 7
1 x Stage 1 motor kits (scacrificed for pinions and bevel gears) RS clearance 7 = 7
Various other stuff, resistors, batts, it all adds up fast.

I have 2 that I bought new, and 3 others that I got cheap because they were returned as defective. One of them needed a new mainboard, which made up for the cost difference, and the other two were mainly cosmetic repairs.

In total, I have spent over $500 on my XMods.

It's kind of a sick feeling, but I just put all the numbers into a spreadsheet, and not counting shipping costs or wasted items and including duplicates (i.e. I keep 3 drive shafts and 3 ESCs), I've got about $2400 sitting in a thin, aluminum case, and that doesn't include one last cutting job I'm having done (haven't gotten estimates back yet from the machinist or parts supplier)
