Not too shabby. i did use the mother's mag polish and it really didn't do anything more than what the dremel polising compound already accomplished.

I want to do it myself. I have a dremel and the polishing stuff to go with it. Maybe I'll pick up some alunium from the local hoby shop and experiment with different methods of polishing.

Practice makes perfect! The local hoby shop sells various sizes & thicknesses of aluminum plates, both polished and unpolished. So I'll get some unpollished aluminum and give it a go.

And I promise that if I figure it out, all I'll do is post a picture, I'll keep it a secret. (I may do it for others for $$ as well )

i really doubt people are going to take the time to send you their heatsinks much less pay you to polish them when a dremel tool is a pretty readily available item. The whole point of a message board is to share information, not try to keep everything to yourself so you can try to make a few bucks. If it were something like a cf chassis then that's completely different. But this is just polishing metal.....cmon it's not that big of a deal.

well i can tell u this much i didn't use a dremel, and look how shiny mine is. the stuff i use people might not want to pay for just to shine a heat sink. plus like i stated before, i can do custom engraving on it.

I'm not worried about custom etching, however I am sure that there are some people who would be. I have other materials that I can use too.

The problem with sharing all your secrets, is that you will no longer have anything unique. Besides if you just drop hints (Like in this thread) you are forced to come up with your own ideas on how to do it. Besides I like being given an idea and figuring my own way about it.

Worst case, if the polishing does not work, the brushed steel look is cool to!

Since you've been mentioning using all these spinbrush motors maybe you could save the spinbrush and put some toothpaste on it to swirl up the heatsink :P
Would that work though? Maybe...

I believe wal-mart sells a metal polishing paste still called MAAS. I used to use that stuff to polish all sorts of things. I even had a mirror finished masterlock at one time from messing around with that stuff. All I can tell you abou the grit is that it's so fine, i can't feel it by rubbing some of it between myfingers.

Either way, I'm planning on hunting down another tube of that stuff, and some sheet aluminum. I have ideas
