If you've been drawn to the latest RC Flight craze (namingly with the PicooZ micro helicopters) and haven't heard about the AeroAce, then you're missing out!
With an 8 3/4" wide wingspan and 9 1/8"L from nose to tail, these things are pretty small!
People have reported being able to fly these planes in medium sized Living Rooms, but personally I don't think you can fully appreciate the fun factor with these planes unless you're outside. And you don't even need all that much outside space, something about the size of 1/2 a tennis court will get the job done nicely!
First, here's a size comparison shot so you see how the size compares to some other popular RC vehicles:
The AeroAce flies using dual, rear-facing propellers. Here's a shot of the AA from the back:
And here's a picture of the Transmitter (the dangling wire is the charging wire for the plane, the Tx takes 6 AA batteries):
The left stick is the propeller throttle. The 2 motors spin in-sync to provide thrust/lift. The right stick controls direction via adjusting the RPM speed of each motor. So, for instance, if you wanted to turn the plane to the right and pressed the stick to the right...It would slow the appropriate propeller down in order to have the other prop push the plane in that direction.
I've only just gotten my AA, but the short time I've flown it it's been a blast! Best part? You can pick one up for just over $20 at Toys-R-Us! They're on sale for $24.99 right now AND there's a $5 off $25 coupon you can use on top of that (get it right
