In general, you want the softest, stickiest things you can find for the rears. Up front, I've found that anything softer than hard tires is too soft. Start with the "hard" tires (dark grey with grooves). If you plow into turns or your radius is too large for your liking, go to medium (black, no grooves) if you are doing donuts or spinning, try taking the tires off completely and riding on the rims (really!) or try the tires that come with HotWheels K.I.T.T. racers (energi)

i used my pullback tires all round and they are great! My R32 does tight turns and doesn't flip on a 3.0 , before i got the pullback i just used the bare rims and they were just as great. On a clean marble or stone floor the pullback tires do just great

Ray, pullbacks are little toy cars the same size as bits, their bodies are designed to fir bit cars. as the name suggests, you just pull em back and let go

when u guys ride on the bare rims, do u do it to the front or back or both? cuz when i tried it on the front, it plows straight on when i'm on a table and if i take out the rear, i do crazy donuts and with all four tires off i do even crazier donuts

Riding on the rims is only for the front. This is something you do for a really fast car running flat out on a large-ish track. Basically with tires you're trying to strike a balance between front and rear. For example, if the rear of your car is swinging around and you spin in turns (oversteer), you need to do something to either make the rear have more grip or the front have less grip, or both. If your car plows and doesn't turn as sharp as you like, use front tires with more grip.
I race primarily on a hardwood floor and an enamel-painted floor, both fairly smooth. With a stock setup I spin out way too much, so harder front tires or none at all work best for me. Obviously the grippy-er everything is, the faster you can go. So again, as grippy as possible in the rear (LXX rears or pullback seem to be the best), and then whatever is needed in the front to balance out the characteristics in a turn.

Thanks guys...that really helps alot. I was racing my friend at school, (floor was dirty!!!) I have a 3.8 and he has the 34 nos zipzap motor. He beat out my car, but in the end i still think my car is faster, it was just that my car was going so fast it couldnt grip the floor and it was coming off the floor. Another question. Would racing on the rims mess up the rims?

Racing on the rims does not hurt them at all. The part that actually contacts the floor is a raised ridge in the middle of the rim. If you put the tires back on, you can't see it. I did a mod a while back where I took the hard plastic wheels from a KIT racer and put them on a bit. It handles great on the right kind of floor.
