Lightbulb Bleek's got another crazy idea...

ok i just thought of this and could be possible i didn't get all the flws out of this because it just an idea...

among the rest of my projects i am gonna work on a working 2 speed transmission. shouldn't be too tough except for the wireless button needed to switch the gears in the car.

am i really crazy? please feedback!

Problem solved already.
Start off on low throttle and put it on high...

high and low throttle is not as fun as a 2 speed

think of it 1st gear - 1hite drift gear then u push a button and
you here the clutch go out and clcik back on to the blue gear after you already took off.
it's great!

Creating a transmitter-controlled 2-speed transmission would be pretty time-consuming and difficult.

You'd have to replace the electronics because you'd need a 3-channel receiver (and transmitter for that matter). Then you'd have to add another servo, or at least an actuator to work the shifting mechanism, not to mention the mechanical gear setup.

If you're dead-set on a 2-speed tranny, you're probably better off going with a centripetal clutch like the non-tx-controlled nitro cars have. When the gears spin fast enough, the 2nd gear engages and the 1st is allowed to float on a 1-way bearing. Some use a pin and spring type while some use a shoe and spring time (the shoe type offers smoother engagements).

But even then, you've got your work cut out for you.

is there such thing as an electronic switch where when enough electricity comes in one side of it it will allow electricity to flow through it? if so you could hook that up to the motor to work a secondary motor that would shift gears.

Bleek, you really have to remember that these are $50 R/C Cars. These aren't some $500 R/C cars that you could actually do this kinda stuff to. Dont get me wrong, I really like to see people thinking of new ways to upgrade their cars, and even like some "crazy" ideas...but I mean, come on your taking this way to far. If Bleek had it his way, his Xmod would have the following: a TV, a stereo, a fly swatter, a fire extinguisher, a super market, a computer, a space shuttle, a ski resort, a house, another xmod on the hood, a REAL turbo, REAL nitrous, and a $100 bill (to buy things at his super market)

if anyone can help me that would be appreciated. ive been thinking of adding 4 extra cells but i cant wire them through the PCB and risk frying it. if i had the switches i could rig up an automatic boost.

A capacitor can be used to build up electricity to a certain point at which it will let it all out. I don't know if that would help you at all, but that's the closest thing to that description that I can think of.
