lithium batteries

i think that the first upgrade any xmod speed freak should get are lithium batteries. i have the no-drill kit from atomicmods, and my car flys. i would like to race my xmod but i have now one to race except for my friends stock xmod(his car doesnt even compare to mine)

Conclusion: GET LITHIUM BATERRIES! NO QUESTION.

li-ion

I know what you mean!!! I just bought a engine level2 upgrade and installed metal bearings, and I couldn't wait to test them out, so I put in regular AAA.....It stunk, so i waited till my batteries finished charging, and now that sucka flies.....my tires keep ripping off the rims now!!!!

I just realized...my batteries are the Ni-MH from RS, so I don't know how well lithiums do, but I do know that the Ni-MH work a hell lot better than regular AAA's....

Li-Ion batteries have 3.7v per cell, compared to 1.2v per cell for the AAAs. Just two of them are a SERIOUS upgrade.

Agreed...Li-Ions are the only way to go. This should be the first thing you do to your car, besides AWD. Without AWD, the car cannot handle the Li-Ions! "Donut" city.

AWD

So if I wanted to get li-ions, I would also have to get AWD......man...gotta save up some money!! I currently have a Stage 2 Raod Race motor, and it keeps throwing my tires off....do I just need new tires, or is there something else I should do? Also, is this better than the 6 cell upgrade? I was thinking of goin to 6 cells, but I won't if this is alot better....

Lol, if you dont want 4wd with li-ions, just put in the high speed motor/gearing. 2wd, good accel, awesome speed.

6 cells are ok, but there are two things: the weight, and where do you put all of them? It is fairly hard to squeeze all of those batteries in there. And because of the weight savings alone, I bet the Li-Ions are faster.

I was blown away with the first ones that I tried. You will probably have to glue the tires on. I used a small bead of super glue around that lip on the rim to keep the tires on. It worked.

O.K. I'll try that with my tires, but if I have a place to put the 2 extra batteries where they wouldn't be in the way and where I thought the weight wouldn't slow me down or affect my handling, would it be better for the 6 cell, or li-ions?

BTW- the batteries I'm using are the RS rechargable tires...

The Li-Ions are the same, if not more power, AND they are lighter. They are the obvious choice. They are more expensive, but I assure you---you will be blown away! They are absolutely amazing.

Two of my Li-Ion cars are using the AtomicMods batteries. I just built a third ('94 Stang) using the Pro-Kit from JDR, aka Jaw Drop Racing. You can buy it from E-Bay for about $25. The batteries are 700mAH, which are close to what AtomicMods are...his are 750mAH. That rating basically tells you how long they will last.

As you can see, they are very close. Anyway, I just finished installing the other batteries, and they are just as good as AtomicMods, but cheaper. Check out my pics...

The first one with the green batteries is the JDR car...

This is the car. The Li-Ions fit very well under this body.

And this is one of my AtomicMods cars with the blue batteries.

Both run equally well. The first car has an AtomicMods SS130 motor in it, and it freakin' flies! The second one has an RS Stage2 and runs good, too. I just ordered another AtomicMods 180S Hi-Torque for the third car. I am going to put an 8-tooth gear on it. It should accelerate like a madman!!!

Morale of the story: get the Li-Ions!!!

O.K. here's what I'm gonna do. I'm gonna save up my money, and buy the 750mAH from atomic mods, then, put some glue on the tires , and, maybe buy the AWD kit, if I don't like the way it handles.....(I most likely won't!)
