no steering...at all please help.
welp, i added the 5th cell to my micro RS4'd supra...and i was playing with it in a parking lot, so i got done, put it away. took it apart to try to figure out a better antenna system. well, after i got done with it, i put it all back together...and now i dont have any steering at all. if i turn the server (i took off the front end to try to see if anything was broken or any wires disconnected and all seemed kosher) so anyways, if i rotate the servo, then give it juice, it straightens out. I pick up the controller, and turn the wheel right, and it does nothing, i turn it left and it turns all the way left and stays there. anyone encounter this and know how to solve it?

By the sounds of that, there must be a loose or broken wire somewhere.

ok, heres the deal, when i turn the controller off, i can move teh servo left or right, but if i have the controller ON i can move it left, but NOT right, whenever i try, it makes a noise like it doesn't wanna move, like the controller is maybe not letting it? i dont know.

You might have the "mysteriously jamming servo gears problem" I had that problem with one of mine, taking apart the steering servo and spraying out all of the gears fixed it.

thats a negative. i took the servo apart and the little motor that turns the gears only turns one way when i turn the controller on. it doesn't respond to the controler's signals when i try to move teh wheel left or right. when i just even turn the power on the conrtoller the little motor keeps spinning and spinning. whenever i turn off the controler it stops. bad controller maybe???

If you have a friend with an XMod, or you have a Radio Shack that has a display car, use a different contoller and see if that works (make sure you use the right crystal though ).

well, i broke down and just bought a new xmod, i got the skyline this time. it was returned b/c it was missing a side mirror, and the car kept cutting out even with new batteries. so i switched the crystals from my supra to my skyline and that seemed to fix that problem. i already put the 180ph motor in the skyline, and it seems to run better than my supra did. who knows. anyway i'm gonna put rechargeble lithiums in this one this coming friday to see how that works out.

if any of yall wanna really know what it is it was that little tan ceramic disk capacitor on the motor mine broke last night and did the same exact thing you are talking about one of the leads coming form it will break or come loose and for some reason that little tan capacitor will cause the steering to glitch up i just happened to stumble across it last night ant i soldered it back on and everything was fine hope this helps every on with this problem

re solder all 3 wires going to and from the potenteometer (spelling?) RS uses something like rubber cement to help keep the wires from breaking. but if one does brake it is even harder to find. re solder them all and that should fix the problem. if not you fried the 1 of the 2 top fets that control current to the steering motor.

i meant STEERING motor not the RS4 motor, forget its even there. take apart the car and see if one of the wires is unsoldered from the STEERING motor fets, if it is try re soldering it. leave the electronics out of the car and see if the one you resoldered can be pulled out of the solder. if that happens you fried one of the STEERING fets.
Do you have the 2 capacitors on the RS4 motor you added?
