rally X
has anyone tried lifting the minix a little. i currently have on mine tires from a model kit that fit the rim but are wider and have a larger outer diameter. I am trying to make this thing a rally vehicle. i figure that the 4wd will be perfect for it. after i figure out how to lift it a little bit i will need to put in softer springs. i already have the spring set with the soft but it isnt really soft. if anyone has any ideas how to soften the ride without just adding weight please post your ideas (b4 i break something :P )

You could take a torch to the springs and heat the springs till there red hot them let them air cool. That should make them softer maybe not sure never done it but I have done it to cut thing easier. That’s what I want my mini x to be so i’m going to run into the same things you will I’ll like to hear how it goes

same here. i really want to get rid of that stock motor and drop somethin a little better. that setup shown doesnt even use the regular chassis. i have an idea of installing oil dampers without choppin up the kit. when that stuff comes in i will post some pics. i also have an idea of a way to mount the motor to get ride of its tendency to spin out only in one direction and maybe use different gears without choppin it up too. i really want to do some work to this but i am not ready to do some serious cutting.
i also am still trying to get this thing rally ready, but i would like it to also be able to be lowered for street running too. :P
i got alot of plans

you know what would be funny and cool. some kind of hydrolic/ airbag system. a bounce to the music contest with the micros. i bet magnetic tubes could work.
yes, so many ideas so little money

oil damper
this is a bad picture but i am lazy. think this sould work. i will be mounting the damper where the screws are that i circled. i noticed that the screws move in towards each other when the A arms move. dont think that the spring on the damper is needed since the minix already has springs, i just want the oil part of it so the car wont have soo much bounce. that is a topcad set if you are wondering. please give me feedback.

Looks good. That’s what old 1/18 and other size cars use. My brother had an old RC car that used the same system, but now you have gotten rid of the most important aspecs of the car the front isn’t independent suspension

i dont understand why it wouldnt still be independent. the damper will pretty much just be floating between the 2 mounts on the A-arms. can you please explain what you mean b4 i screw up my miniX :P i look forward to your reply
thank god there are forums, or i probably would have destroyed my X by means of fire or other ways.

Its not that you would destroy your mini-x it’s just that when one wheel goes up the other wheel will take a lot more force for it to do the same thing. That is why on the pictures you have posted the guy put one shock on each wheel instead of one between the two. The only thing I can think of that you would lose from that setup is some traction. I hope this makes sense I’m really really sleepy.
Ok this is my third and last edit if that explanation didn't help I found a definition "Independent Suspension System that permits each wheel to move up and down without seriously affecting any other wheel." hope that is a little more clear.
oh by the way where did you get those shocks I've been looking for some. I was thinking of getting the overlander shocks by Kyosho. I have heard nothing but good things from them.
