xmods. are they worth it to buy?
ive been in rcing for over 10 years and i was wondering are these things really worth it? i hear alot of good and bad news about these things. i just got a nitro rc truck and could spend the money on hop ups for that, or i could buy an xmod. they sound fun to tinker around with. also i know you all have heard this alot, but 5 or 6 cell? is the 6 cell all that needed? thanks then.

ok. how about the superslicks? they go pretty fast for there size. i just want something cheap to fool around with. i dont care about being porptional really. on something this small, in less u do a lot of work to it, u dont need to be porptional.

Dont bother going cheap, cause you will hate a cheap non propo car and end up with a Z anyway.
I myself own 1/10 nitro and buggies and yeah they might go fast, but its all relative to size. I own a highly modified mini Z which has a maximum speed of 84km/h, now try controlling a 1/28 car at those speeds. 30km/h is still VERY fast for a mini Z, and on small track that's too fast. Proportional control is just as necessary on a 1/28 car as a 1/10 IMO.
There are only a couple of 1/28 propo cars on the market....
Xmods
Pros
-Relatively cheap
-4wd (only when AWD kit is purchased) with 4 wheel independant suspension.
-small range of mods.
-you can change the weight distribution.
-bolt on body kits are great for ricers.
Cons
-16 step throttle.
-Errrr you get what you pay for
-Noisy
-Slow
-Big turning circle
-Not as refined as a Z
-Weak, break easily
Mini Z
Pros
-KO-Propo electronics w/512 step ESC
-MR01 is almost as cheap as the Xmod now and kills it in stock form
-Quick
-Quiet
-Fantastic display quality bodies
-HUGE AFTERMARKET parts range....i.e. like15 different brands.
-2wd fun
-Highly efficient non bevel gear drive train
Cons
-Semi Independant rear suspension
The Z looks better on paper and out performs the Xmod....But grab a bearing set, a ball diff and an upgrade motor/FETS/TURBO, some wider wheels and better tyres, carbon fibre H-Plates, spring sets etc. and the car will just get better and better.

most of them of them are liek, "but XMods are cheaper.."
then they buy $200 in upgrades...
they end up with a crappy car.
couldve gotten a Z...
have you seen Iwaivers yet?

you can get an Xmod for the same price as an Iwaver...
they may be 25$.. but add another 25 or so for shipping it into the US...
if toyeast would give me a super deal on one, maybe that would shut me up on how good/bad they are (they are NOT fully propo, the Xmod even has more steps in steering).
Just DO NOT buy a clone OTHER then the Iwaver... the HEIPOA and other are pure crapola...

84 kmh? wow. thats like 50mph. all i have is enough money for a xmod, and i dont get money that fast intil august, so ill just get a cheap superslick for now to hold me off intil the summer. they still look fast though for being so small. but i guess you need propo when going 84 kmh. i think mini z is the way to go. thanks.

Relatively speaking yes and no... depending on how much imporoved over the previous verson of iwaver(lxx) I may or may not prefer to buy an I waver over an Xmod... either way I would rather have an actual Mini-Z...
If the I Waver did not improve much over the LXX, I would be more likely to buy an Xmod... but as far as I can tell from photos and posts the I waver actualy is better than the LXX... and this is saying a lot from me, cuz I HATE CLONES... if the I waver gets any better, then the only thing making it a clone, will be the fact that its the same design as the mini-z, and possible leagal issues selling them retail in the US... but its still not the same yet, so its still a "clone".
The Xmod parts axles etc, are just too.. well strange.. wobbly... the concept of the Xmod is good, but the actual product produced is lacking... it could be so much more if they just uped the quality a bit... but then again, its only sold as a toy.
I will add, that I will NOT buy another Xmod, just dont like them enough to do so... but I will keep the one I got as a sample just because its the same scale as the Mini-Z... and sort of fits as something different next to my Overland, MR01, MR02 chassis...
Also, as for my comment of STEPS, Ignore it, at the time of writing it I think I was correct, but right now I would like some one to post how many Steps the Xmod has and the I Waver... I mighta switched them...
