Receiver Question

Sorry I've been out of RC for a few years and just getting back in. Can someone explain to me about the 2.4GHz receivers?

Are they availble in AM or FM or both? Does this mean you do not need crystals? What kind of radio do you need to use?

I think you're in the wrong Forum Gman...Micro-T comes with 27MHz AM Radio. You might be thinking of the new Kyosho dNaNo?

Though, with the Micro-T people have swapped out the innards in favor of their own electronics and quite a few people have opted for using the Spektrum 2.4GHz DSM instead (I plan on doing this as well, I've got all the parts and just need to swap in).

The 2.4GHz systems use their own system...No more dealing with AM/FM/Crystals. You can read more about it at Spektrums website page here:
http://www.spektrumrc.com/DSM/Technology/spekTech.aspx

Other manufacturers are now offering their own 2.4GHz products as well, like Futaba's FASST system:
http://2.4gigahertz.com/

...The new Kyosho dNaNo 1/43rd cars have 2.4GHz stock!

Namuna,

Thanks for the explanation. Actually I am starting to research small receivers for my ABC DTMX4 I am about to dust off!!

I need a really small receiver and I happened upon your sticky in the Micro-T section that recommended a receiver that worked on 2.4GHz. I think it was the SR3500 DSM 3-Channel Micro Racing Receiver. For the radio you just recommended an AM 27mhz, this is where I got confused.

PS: I can not wait to see all the details on the Kyosho dNaNo

Ahhh, then that sticky must be updated.

Indeed if you were to go with the Spektrum rx you'd need a Spektrum tx.

We already know a good amount about the dNaNo (in the FAQ)...Only thing we don't know yet is the price.
