I got a Chevelle at the beginning of the week (SE) and anyway my SE does have a steering problem like the old SE's I mean it steers great but it makes a stuttering noise when I turn I mean it's a great car, I've modded it but the stutttering noise is getting on my nerves, lol, anythaing I can do to fix this? I put some graphite lubricant stuff in the propo steering gears or watever there called and it helps it turn a little better but the noise it still there? please help, Thanks!

My Torino gets full 7 steps right with no stuttering, but has stuttering between steps 2-3 and 5-6 when turning right. Another thing is that I could not fit the rear hubcaps into the stock axle, or the red axle. They do fit in the green axle, though. It's nothing a little sanding can't do, but I was wondering if anyone else had this problem.

EDIT: It did have the new endbell and the code on the bottom of the box was 02A04

haha, good stuff....

damn its been a long time since i played with my se or looked through this forum. nice work guys on following rs's updates. so it looks like theyve got most the kinks worked out?? and with the news of 15 dollar se's i hope that deal is still running and cars are in stock. to cliffnote this thread: the torino cars are void of any twitching and massivly uneven turning radii(sp)?? if so i will cross my fingers and hope i can find one around here...

based on my experience, your best bet for even steerining and no stutter is to get a gto with a 02a04 date code. torinos and chevelles have even steering, but it's a crap shoot as to whether or not they are stutter-free.

Hi, my 0.02

Picked some from eBay.
Didn't think much of the steering issue until I got a good one and started looking up info.

Darn, had 6 stutterers.

Managed to fix one so now 5.
Unfortunatly 2/3 AudiTT #60-7034 09A03 had only 2 wires
Tried soldering a wire where the third one should have been, no luck.

The Torino was good. #60-7037 01A04

My Savanna are currently out on loan but with code of #60-7026 08A03
I don't think there's much hope.

How about making this a sticky or at least adding it to the faq.

Just received my Savanna thru Ebay. It's also a 08A03.

I haven't open it yet. Thinking of exchanging it with a 05A04 at the local RS.

Does any one try the 08A03 version? Should I just open it and try to fix it or should I just exchange it?

Don't even bother, just take it back to RadioShack and exchange it.

Most of the Torino's are pretty good as far as the steering is concerned. But, if you are looking to buy something new and you want fast....buy a Viper, Ford GT, Corvette, or Mustang Mach 1. They are all 3rd generation SE's and much faster than the Torino or any other SE's.

I have a Mustang GT Concept chassis and it back ups WAY slower than it goes forwards. Is this normal?

I have a Torino that backs up slowly. I think it is normal for early second generation SEs like your Mustang<--(Guys, feel free to correct me if I am wrong on this one) The code on the bottom of the Torino package says 01A04. I've had it for a couple of months. The slow reverse doesn't bother me too much.

I would say this is common for that batch of SEs.
Gotta love the 2nd gen SEs. Better bodies, hardly fixed steering problem, and slower reverse. I can't really complain, I have two of the 2nd generation cars.

I'm glad there are better improvements on the 3rd generation models.

I know when I was looking at some of the electical circuitry drawings floating around that there were independant forward and reverse circuits.

I'll try and get my hands on a 3rd generation, as they're supposedly much faster.

Also my one wheel got some fibers wrapped into it, so one wheel turns more freely than the other. How do I get the fibers out?
