Ricers
Ok, all over the internet I'm seeing all these messages about how ricers suck. I want to know why. I realise that ricers aren't as good as good old american muscle but why doesn't anyone like them. I kind of do.

ok rice is a bad term cuz it's used so vaguely but i'll try to shed some light on why i hate "rice". first off i like it when people take and import and tune it up and actually need the stuff they are putting on the outside of there car scoops wings ect... . what i don't like is when some kid takes his moms civic puts a wing on it some FAKE intake vents and scoops, DECALS of stuff he doesn't even know what they are let alone have on/in his car, leaving the motor bone stock and then has the nerve to say it beats mustangs all the time (probably cuz the dude in the stang didn't realize the poser was trying to race with him). i hate these guys it just pisses me off.

All the Actual fast Japanese cars are in Japan(cough Skyline Type-R cough) so people just throw some stickers and a fart-cannon on thier car, not knowing the relative ease of B-series engine swaps or the existance of Apexi REAL exhaust systems. However, some manufacturers are finally exporting thier good stuff (subaru, mitsu) and these cars can blow "American muscle" out of the water with Japanese turbo! And there's no comparison between this "American Muscle" and European exotics and pure sports cars

IMO, there's good rice and bad rice. bad rice is your mom's civic with a wing, bodykit and stock rims.
good rice is a civic with a swapped, boosted engine, decently legal exhaust and a tasteful bodykit.
me? i like both kinds of rice. i dont really hate on anyone but the people in sunfires and cavaliers with mad bodykits.
any japanese car done right will beat american muscle in handling, but only a handful can beat them at drags. ie, supras, FDs, old school FCs.. WRXs..

The major 2 things I have against Ricers are:
1. Loud mufflers (just because).
2. Spoilers on the back of front wheel drives. It totally negates the purpose! It dosn't look good to me if it works against the car.
Just my 2 cents.

rex, straight thru mufflers arent a product of ricers... why do you think pro drag cars, touring cars, and tuner's cars are so loud?
and **sigh** i hate having to answer this question... but wings have a function on any given car. doesnt matter if it's a supra or a civic. Basically, when you go, there's a low pressure area created behind the rear window. this makes for lift, which pulls the back of the car up. inherantly, that's bad for every car. even front wheel drive cars, because you dont want the back losing traction when you wanna turn.
normal wings generally arent that useful for pushing the wheels down, but rather to keep the car stable.
it's gets a hell of a lot more complicated than that, but im too lazy... hehe.

Sorry about the spoiler mix-up, but it still erks me. I see nice cars (not counting the brand stickers) with large wings that don't match and a teen inside with his hat on backwards squinting at me and nodding his head. It makes me want to laugh and cry at the same time.
But here in Louisville I've noticed that Ricers and Loud mufflers go hand in hand. I know the airflow's better, but it's irritating! I must be old fashioned.
If I'm in my 4 cyl I let them speed off in front off me just to get away from them. If I'm in my ragtop I speed off quietly while they try to keep up and wave at them while I do it.
I know I probaly affended somebody. That's why I rarely post. Sorry if I did.
Peaces,
Rex

Yea, Kids here in Louisville put a few subs in the trunk and a loud muffler on their old-used cars and claim they have the best "Ride". Sad thing is that a few are my friends.
A relative of mine had a huge metal spoiler on his red ? (the new escort, is that the RX7? I forget what it was). I teased him about it all the time because there's no place in town where he'd need it (or could get up the speed to use it). I considered that a Ricer, and he sold it about a year ago (to a young kid in our nearby highschool).
The sub and a$$ blasters I don't really consider Gay or Rice... Just silly (when it's on a torn up car) and a plea for attention (A plea that covers a few small city blocks).

I hate those stupid imports with like unpainted body kits and scratches all over. But people are hating on these beautiful Supras, RX7s, Civics, Skylines, etc. just because they're using nitrous. It's getting to the point where i can't take it. "Oh, that car has nitrous, it sucks" take it to the streets and see how much it "sucks"...

I wouldn't know. most of the people around here can't even afford Nitrous.
Nitrous dosn't suck. I particulary think it's great for strip racing. I'd rather have a turbo or super charger for day to day driving though. I'd hate to have something I'd have to pay to reload every few uses.

I've deleted my original post . I don't want this to turn into
a political arena about America , and who's proud to be here .
