Die Casts > Dnano?

I'm sure most of the Dn owners played with this idea already (and shame on those who didn't), so I was wondering how such conversions end up looking and working? Thats the wheelbases available and axle widths? Thanks.

the weight alone would be detrimental to the performance. your going to get less run time and much higher motor heat, potentially battery heat etc. as it all has to work a bit harder to move it all around.

i would stay away from die cast. there are ungodly amounts of plastic 1:43 lines to choose from.

I noticed that several brands start making finished 1/43 resin models with very high quality of details (wipers, mirrors, antennas, grills), hence the price!
Here are a few:
Bizarre some nice historic pan cars/Le Mans here.
Look Smart
Neo
Spark
I hope the moderators won't mind since these are shop links. Please erase if necessary.

Now at that price better check carefully the dimensions before buying.
I guess only large size cars would fit (forget the compacts).
Also not your everyday Dnano body

EDIT: I just bought a Neo static model in 1/43 (Porsche 930 Turbo). Althrough it looks fantastic and to scale, it won't work, don't buy them for adaptation to a Dnano chassis! I thought the body would be made in some kind of light plastic like plastic kit cars. In fact the resin is very very thick and heavy, the body is even heavier than some die cast models. I am a little disapointed... well, you don't try you don't know Last solution would be taking a cast from that body and make a lighter version.

Are there plenty of regular production cars in plastic that aren't 70-120$ though? Toyotas, hondas, etc? My only knowledge are some cheap oversea knockoffs that don't even get a metal treatment, but there's no steady line or a way to find them/cars I'd like made.

Ebbro are die-casts though, at least last few I bought were. Same with AutoArt and various other good lines.

I've built/detailed a number of resin kits and they are really heavy too. The great part is in 1/43 scale they virtually make every cool car ever made. I thought about getting a couple and "thinning" them down. I am also sketchy on how strong they would be in impacts. The dNano does get going pretty fast you know
