Consider This!
just a thought, but where you guys gonna run these Xmods? I used to race 1/10 scale, which by the way was as customizable and upgradeable as these Xmods, but you had to run them outside cause of the size and speed. The is a 1/64 forum, which means you either have very little space to race, or you just like small indoor R/C. If you guys are thinking of taking your Xmods to the streets, you are gonna eat them up. Someone mentioned the sidewalk...ouch. All the good looks of those things is gonna go right down the toilet. If you just don't have the space, you're gonna be all hyped up with no place to go.

They used to kick me out of my mall for doing that, called it the ankle buster. Anyhow, the sand, dirt, and grit that you will get inside the car, the wheels, the gears, the shocks, the motor, and the bearings is just no good. Didn't say you couldn't run them outside, but it's gonna require some serious care to keep it in nice condition, then again, if all you want is a beater, then no worries. Where I live it's called snow, ice, and salt....so there won't be any outdoor R/Cing for a while.

well i guess its good that i read this whole thing because the second i heard that xmods were supposed to be out i almost left my house. from the 4 that i have seen so far(skyline, civic, supra, rsx) i know that i want a supra(unless the have a stang in the works) and that will probably one of the more difficult ones to find. yahoo is not agreeing w/me right now so if someone could post pics it would be great or email them to me at dragons986@aol.com.

You know, now that I've had time to actually think about this, I've gotten caught up in the hype. The reason I got into Zip Zaps is the ability to play with them in my home or pretty much anywhere. Their small size made them very accessable(SP?). I used to have 1/10 scale RC cars and got tired of having to find a place to drive them.
The more I sit here thinking about it, the more I'm leaning towards not getting a Xmod. After all, they are made for looks with their nice bodies and ground effects kits, what happens when you take them outside to actually play with them? Unless you can find a gym or meeting hall to drive them, they are just going to get battered by rocks, sand, dirt, and debris.
I read this somewhere else, and it really got me thinking. I could go ahead and buy one and mod the heck out of it, but I would really never be able to fully enjoy it. Where I live, there just isn't many places to drive it.
I don't know, maybe I'll change my mind if I pick one up, but for now, I'm kinda on the fence about this one.

If I do decide to actually get one, I will more than likely have one car set up to drive outside on a tennis court or whatever with a body that I don't care if it gets banged up, and have my other cars for show and indoors racing.

i was thinking the exact same thing. i'll use a civic (cuz i dunt like them) to play outside then i'll switch to the nicer skyline or supra for indoors

If you have a decent size garage just run them in there. Sweep the floor pull your 1:1 cars out, set up a track and walla(sp?) instant fun!
I am definatly getting one of these. I wonder how they perform compared to a Mini Z. Mini Z vs Xmods

yeah i was thinking garage too. mine is very smooth and my firends had a really smooth(and probably slick) finish on it(as does his unfinished basement). plus if they sell bodys like they do for ZZ's then it would be easy to keep your cars nice looking. BC im sure if u end up getting an xmod you will love it just as much as your ZZ's but right now your felling a little voulnerable because your RS let you down(jk). as for being compared to mini-z's i havent had a mini-z and probably wont. if xmods are half the price of the z's then they should be well worth it even if they sacrifice some performance.
