Looks like it's a tad lighter, but the Li-poly puts out more voltage and runs A LOT longer. Those +'s would out-weight the slight difference in weight, IMO. I like that mod though. I'm going to start using that for my other cars. I just don't think it would work better for a micro Hovercraft where you need all the power you can get with the least amount of weight. Li-poly adds 1/3 more punch and maybe only 1/16 more weight.

Hey guys - hovercraft could prove tricky not to mention fiddly.
Have any of u heard of Wing In Ground effect??
It's like a plane but forces air under the wings which gives lift.

p.s. when I was (a lot) younger I made a crappy hovercraft with a couple 1.5v motors, from one of those styrofoam meat trays your steak comes in from the supermkt, & a plastic cup. :/
((I can hear u all laffin @ me) just hope binarytosser isn't around - don't think I could take it)

hmm. I don't know if this helps you guys any? (oh, not to mention you may know this already) But the way a real hovercraft works is that the outer thick ring "balloon" thing around the outside is filled with air, there is not actually a fan filling the center part with air. What happens is the fans (or pumps, or whatever) fill the ring up, and then force the air out tiny little holes all around the ring near where it meets the body of the craft on the inside.
If you were to make this work for a bit? you'd have to have a mechanism that forced air into a balloon (or something) faster than the balloon let the air into the center, all while enough air was filling the center to provide lift. rather difficult I might add (though don't assume the ring ever has to leave the ground, it doesn't usually in real hovercrafts... )
