Heres my MOD of the speed boost mod.
Rather than loose the reverse, I have placed wires with Diodes allowing electric to pass in only 1 direction,so no shorts!
What do u think?
All ive done is-
The original mod involved removing a wire from the pcb, and putting it straight to the cell.
Ive replaced the wire, put a diode on it(to allow 1 direction electric)
and attached another wire to the motor, with a diode, going to the - side of the cell, what do u think?
I havent tried it yet,but theres the theory!

Awesome idea here! too bad that it didnt work for me. Followed your directions to the T and all I had was reverse, no speed increase, nothing. Since I had opposite results, i started by using the other wire, this time had nothing at all. Hmmm one may say..well must be this darned Z-Cars PCB that hates me. Would have loved to enjoy extra speed!
I have a dual-cell NiMH mod in this btw.
PS: This is the original no-reverse mod, not the w/diode.

I don't know if the diode version will work, but in theory it should!

my zip has dual cells & the pcb is modified. I just did the plan no reverse mod and it helped greatly and i don't miss reverse much at all. i'm still wanting to go faster i'm thinking about the 3.8 rspec motor

I did th REAL PCB mod, where you remove four resistors. It made a little difference. then I did a two-cell and now my ZipZap is comparable to my Z.

the no reverse and removing and jumping some of the resistors makes it even faster

i completely removed r17 & 18, and jumped (put a glob of solder on top of to bypass) r20 & 21 which are on the under side corner of the pcb and the same with r16 & 19 on top of the pcb some say to leave 16 & 19 but every thing worked for me. after i did this the car will go on carpet.

I only removed the resistors for forward, so i have a slow reverse to back out when my car gets stuck.

nice
finally got a chance to try this mod....definitely a boost in power. my old Mustang never moved so fast. It was dead even at the start with my Xmen Mazda (which has always been much faster even with the same motor/gear combo) then pulled ahead after about 2 feet. If only my 27Mhz Xmen had better range
Still looking for a good way to fix that problem.
