bitcharej,
Pull another tantrum like that and you get a timeout. If you're going to make 'big' claims, you better be ready for 'big' disbelief.
rockhopper2012,
If you can't state your side without resorting to name calling, then I'd suggest holding off on commenting at all. I'll ask you to keep the comments civil from now on.

WHERE'S THE BEEF? (NOT THE BULL!)
I for one am not going to let this die until it's proven or disproven.
I didn't start this, but I'll sure as sugar finish it.
Another week goes by, and still nothing.
Perhaps in the future the parties involved will think on the situation a little more completely before making claims that cannot be proven.
This hobby suffers from enough mis and dis-information as it is.
I don't think it's made any better by this garbage.

Well QFM has reported in, and they say it looks legit!
That's a couple folks saying it's true, and that's better than one.
My trouble is that videos of any kind are too easily manipulated, and the lack of any other kind of evidence is highly suspect in my book.
I'm still totally skeptical to say the least. Changing one capacitor value isn't enough to cause all that without there being another reason behind it, be it manufacturing snafu or something.
I say turn it over to some known non-biased technicians and let them have at it to make a determination. That would put this whole thing to rest.
Oh, anyone thinking I should drop this should really take it up with the guy who started it.
If you don't want to get chased by dogs, then don't arouse their attention in the first place.

Actually strider-mt2k qfm was the first to post this glitch right here on tiny. I think that E J Lanzo is the same person that started this thread and sent the original email to qfm. He now (or whenever) sent in the mpg to qfm and they're just reporting they're acceptance of the glitch. I really don't care either way, hell it's definatly not a mod I'ld wanna do even if the ringtone could be changed. Is it possible? Yeah. Is it a mod? No. Why do I say it's not a mod? Because it wasn't intended and hasn't been duplicated or yet.

It is a mod
What I did is a mod. I altered my controller to function in another way, a ringtone w/ every charge. It's kind like how you racers out there who put fat exhaust in your car to make it louder and faster.

Have you done your "mod" to another 4band controller?
Did what you did to the first one have the same effect on the other?
Has anyone else done this "mod" and had the same results?
Did You intend to get a ringtone out of the controller by performing this "mod"?
Have you found out the hows and whys this "mod" works?
If you answered no to any of those questions, then in my eyes it's a fluke, not a mod.

Agreed. Repeatability is the key here.
I'm willing to believe once as a fluke, but unless this is happening to everyone (or at least ONE other person) it's not a mod.
Also, if you can't describe exactly, in technical terms what was done, it's not a mod.
Guys who do exausts can tell you exactly what makes them what they are.

It might have been me a month or so ago, now I'm putting money back into my ROV .
Besides, I don't think it's going to be repeatable.
Uck, it must really be over for me if this is the thing I find interesting on the boards now.
Yes, someone else please put a different timing capacitor in a four channel controller and give us a yay or nay please!

Thanks! It's a combination of Off-The-Shelf, hacked, and home brew.
I an VP of The Robotics Club of Yahoo group. I generally post my progress, ups and downs of the Probe Project there.
It's a great place to learn about robotics too!
There are more pictures and technical stuff HERE.
