i tried the clay thing you cant just use clay, unless you bake it so its hard. the hot plastic tends to turn it to goo. but then again that could have just been the clay that im using. but yes this kinda thing is possible.

ok, i was a bit off on the measurments but that will be fixed for the next batch of cars. either way it was easy to just glue an additional tab of the plastic from the mold to the car to make it fit the body. it was like 3mm long. the truck was like 4mm long. anyway heres what its looking like now. im in the painting process now. as you can see this is not the clear plastic. just another color. we have red green blue white. and i think yellow.

im gonna paint it a pearl blue.

i have noticed a few other things i need to do..

1. etch out the windows on the mold.
2. match up the wheel wells with the tires on the (they are about 1 -2 mm off.
3. make more of these

that is pretty cool. how much more do you have to add to the chasis to make it long enough? i have saw a few toy cars that i think would be great to do that with.

Hey Spanky, what are those other molds in the background? One looks to be a Le Mans car.

here are some pics with the paint. im not the greatest painter... besides i think that that masking tape that i am using is terrible. anyeay that blue paint looks awesome, and looks even better when painted through the bottom of the body.. (not shown) does anyone have any suggestions on masking tape? has anyone ever tried that liquid masking tape stuff?
