yea thats easy to accomplish with black paint. you will have to do it with colored resin also... i also like the clear because it could allow light kits to be put behind it... anyway i think yours are rocking.. right now the 5 dollars more for the dyes is just a bit to high for me. although i wonder if i used a drop of each color dye.. (attempting to get a black color) i could make it smoky.. so the windows look tinted...

we dont have pearl. only michaels. and its 4.79 befor tax... probably 5.37 after or something like that.

what kinda resin are you using? is yours clear to start with? or white?

im thinking im gonna switch over to fiberglas polyester resin.. it costs like 10.00 for a gallon of that stuff. and has the same consistancy, and also drys like a rock!!!

yea it is kinda strong.. also when using it. i would double up on catalyst. i dont usually measure the catalyst.. i just squirt a bunch into the mixing cup.. but i would assume i use at least 20 drops for 1-2 inches of resin in the bottom of a plastic cup... make sure you stir well. scraping the sides of the cup as well as the bottom of the cup.... this stuff smells just like fiberglas resin. that is why i was thinking about switching.. i think its the same stuff repackaged for a different use.. they are both polyester resins... o well.

anyway. if you dont use enough catalyst it may be sticky on the outside of the body after its dryed.. and it will take a lot longer to dry.. my dry times are somewhere around 30 min till it hardens. and about another hour till i remove the mold from the cast. it still may not be completely dry.. but i just stick them on the window sill for a couple hours and they cure right up..if its still sticky the lady from castin-craft said to give it a shot with clear coat and it will harden..

Whew , sounds like a lot of work . I usually cast between
4-5 bodies in an hour . I gotta find a clear resin with little to
no smell and still have a 15-20 min demold . I talked to the
people at micro-mark ( I work 20 miles from them )
and they don't know ( or won't tell me) ,.if someone
makes such a product .

ok, here it is.. it still has some tape on it because i just finished painting on the trim.. i painted it freehand.. but i need a better method..it looks good but i can still see where a strand or two of the brush went stray.... the windows will be clear, there is tape on them right now. i still need to paint on the crhome bumper and door handles... and give it a good shot of clear. im thinking i might fabricate a small surfboard to put on top too... just carve it out of balsa, put a decal on the bottom of it and then clear it so it looks shiny as hell......

oh yea did i mention this just snaps on and off a zip just like a regular body...

i just need that suplier of mini surfboards...

Well i finished this body. and i must say that it does fit quite well. i did have to shave about a half a milimeter from the inside of the body by the rear wheels.. but other than that its perfect. my paint job is kinda so so... but after about 5 min of taping things i said the hell with tape and just free handed the rest. paint was completely brushed on. i did thinn the paint so it wasnt so thick, which helped reduce brush lines. but after a coat of clear and a light sanding.. you cant even find the brush lines.. in some of the pics you can see a second body.. i plan on painting it white with candy green flames, and putting a surfboard on top.. probably also painted candy green.. o well what do you all think...
