so am i! i won't be buying another faller vehicle when you can get the front axel from ttt-parts.org for significantly less the the cost of the whole thing. that option was not available to me at the time or i wasn't aware of it. i wish i had the skills to machine my own....

Hi,
you can also buy the "Faller" front axle as a spare part. It costs 8,50 Euro (nearly 8.50 Dollar) at www.mikroantriebe.de.
But just try out to build your own. It isn't so difficult as you may thinking.
best regards
Thorsten

fastboy- thanks for providing the info
rallger- there is a resources thread with just about every link you'll want to go to! all you have to do is search...and read if you find any links missing, you can add them to that thread . generally, what i left off can be found from one of the listed sites anyway. thorsten has many good links to the german sites on his page...

well....i don't think i've seen another detailed how-to other than my own. (could be wrong) alteast incorporating fabrication...there are several that show various stages of build...like overlander, killer, fastboy
it's more of an art than a science...you sort of have a design in mind and it continually developes and matures as you make progress. i know this isn't the answer you were looking for.
unless you can convince one of the members that have done custom gearboxes to assemble a detailed how-to, i'm afraid you'll have to do it the old fashion way of trial and error . i'm afraid my gearing only consists of a motor, spur gear, worm gear and axel. about the simplest it can be.

if you can reproduce killers axels on his 6x6, i would be very impressed...killer's work on that is really nice! i'd ask killer to build some for me but don't want to bug him and since i look up to his and others work, i try to make as much on my own. (emulation/copying is the best forum of flattery)
for the sake of saving some money, i will be using prefab parts on my second project . further projects, i assure you will include more original work. i still have one more man 5t

thanks Arch! , .. making a front driving axle for others is not that of a problem, but the problem would be shipping such item, it's quite expensive here in the Philippines to send a small product to others on the other side of the globe , as much as i wanted to help others to experience the prowess of a 1/87 all-wheel-drive truck, but like what you have said, try to make one your own, and you'll be proud of what you've done, and besides, you already know what to do, just in case something brakes on your truck
rallger,
you were asking if the servo (pico servo 5.4grams) is powerful enough to steer 4wheel?.. as i understand it, yes it can!.
good luck on your truck... hope to see your work here too!, and if you got questions during the process, don't hesitate, post it here
