Overlander,

Call me stupid , but that's odd? co'z i am using a Futaba 40Mhz standard size 1/10 rc car FM crystal on a GWS R-4P rx (with an adoptor), and a Futaba 3PDF (pistol/gun type) transmitter on all my truck and it seems to work just fine, with a good range too!

Hi killer,
I know, that is working good. The only different between the crystals is the housing.

In my cars I don't have enough space to plug the xxl-size crystals ;-)

Best regards

Thorsten

i'm rather new to the rc electronics, so please excuse my ignorance.
is the problem overlander refering to have anything to do with futaba being negative shift and jr/hitec being positive shift? i'm not sure what the 'shift' refers to but i was told they had to be compatable.

Hi arch2b,
I don't know exactly the meaning of "negative/positive shift" by using in rc-controler.
But maybee it is only the rule to transmit the forward speed in a short puls of the signal and the backward speed in a long puls.

So you have no problems to use them in the same truck. Just activate the "servo-reverse" and everything will working.

Some very old controler (<20 years old ) works by a negative voltage signal. So their are not compatible to the new recivers or servos. Additional the old parts are bigger than our whole cars ;-)

best regards

Thorsten

Hi People!

Forgive my absence, my company is launching the series of the newest AutoCAD products and I have been on a marketing tour for the last couple of weeks. Just two more cities to go, and I will be back to the shop. San Francisco tomorrow and Vancouver Friday.

Looks like I'll be a have another 100K airline miles this year again

Killer,
I am pretty sure that you can not use a Futaba FM crystal with a JR FM crystal. AM might work. I usually dont mix and match. I own about 20 radios and they all have their own sets of crytals.

Keep building!!!!!!!!!!

hhmmm???.. i'm pretty sure too that it works, cause that's what i've been using since the beginning of my 1/87 project truck (except the one w/ Mini-Z board on it).. wait is the GWS R-4P you meant about "JR" ?.

20 WHAT?!!! what the heck are you going to do with all of those radios?.. i only have 4 radios, and that's two 2channel AM TX (from Mini-Z) one for me and one for my son, and two 3channel FM TX... but i have quite a few FM and AM recievers with crystals on my tool box... other radio transmitter that comes with some rc kits i bought are opened up for surgery, some of it's parts like micro resistors and capacitors are used on my 1/87 truck lights, and some are used to replace the stock pot/trimmer on my converted servo ESC (instead of those big bulky resistor used on the website i posted on "upgrade your ESC" ), and those 3 leds on Mini-Z controller is used on my home-made bulb discharger to show how low the power on the battery still remains before unplugging it

have a safe trip man

guys, right now i'm working on an all-wheel-drive micro hummer with removable "powered" single axle trailer!.. the space inside the hummer is too small for my electronics and battery (i'll have those Li-Po batts soon ), so i'll be placing all those batteries (4pcs) inside the trailer! ... actually, i have the Gama Goat on my mind, but hey, there's a hummer with a trailer right? i saw one on CNN so i think this should do.

it seams you and i are onto the same idea , my next project which i've already painted and been doing the planning for will utilize a trailer for carrying the batteries, on/off switch and charging plug!

now if could just get someone to hit me up with a sheet or two of the water slide decal paper...no replies to my post about it yet

Using the trailer is not a bad idea right? , but!, we cannot use the truck without the trailer! , using small size battery such as Li-Ion or the Li-Polymer batteries is the answer, but i don't want to spend more money for another battery , right now i'm thingking of making my own servo to fit my smaller size project vehicles, so fitting a standard size battery (for a 1/87 that is!) is not a problem.

water slide decals?... i thinks i still have some extras left from my 1/24 scale rally cars.. but i'll check first.

Hi Arch,
The tube frame is made for a t-maxx.

All of my trucks are made for trails and rock crawling so this one is very slow and tourqie.

believe it or not, i still can't get the spur gear off the faller axel. i don't have a vice so i've tried just about everything. i might take it to the lhs and ask them to do it.

another problem, one of my rear wheels is very whobbly on the stock axel. what can i do about this?
