very nice! can you make any video's of your tttt's in action?
that makes two right? is the tatra next? by the time i'm done with mine, you will have made so many, i'm sure you'll be bored.

the drill press thing for the dremel is very helpful. free's up a hand so i can hold what i'm working on better. don't have to worry about the dremel bitting into and running off on something, which is scary because it's very difficult to hold it and turn it off with one hand.

I wont get bored with this!! I am worried you guys will get bored and leave me to my obsessions alone

Great that you got the dremel drill press arch. A drill press vise like this will be perfect for that:
http://www.dxmarket.com/micromark/products/15118.html

Be careful with small drill bits. Choose the slowest speed on the dremel and feed the tool SLOWLY. Remove the bit from the hole often to clear it. Use a center punch to make a dimple where you are going to drill so the tiny bit does not "wander".

Arch,

here's what i did to turn on and off my drill without using a hand, visit your local shop and look for an extension wire that have a swicth on and off on it, place it under your work bench, this where you plug your drill, then use your feet to turn the switch on and off, this will function as a remote switch of your drill... just a suggestion , ope this help!

i didn't mean to say they are boring, just that overlander and killer will have made so many by the time i'm done that it wouldn't be as exciting for them i was afraid i would get mine done and no one would be left to see it. i wish i could work faster but i only have a 6-8 hours a week to work on it, depending how early my son gets to sleep during the week. i don't see how you do it overlander, especially since you travel a lot as well.

very good suggestions. the cord, center punch and maybe that vise will be on my running shopping list.

where are you getting your powertrains? the black box unit on you prolog man looks like the one commonly used in the german site, which say they aren't avaiable anymore, or thats what comes out of bablefish.

does the solid brass frame give the prolog good balance? i was thinking the weight would help it's stability as well.

These are the same gearboxes I used for my UNIMOG TTTT.

They are 50:1. They are not perfect but they are available here in the states from NWSL, a model railroad parts manufacturer.

Yes Killer, these would make a milti axle truck easy, but they are $30 a peice. I still need to make the u-joints somehow. This will take some thought......

I think my TATRA 8x8 will be expensive. It has still not arrived yet.

50:1.. hhmm?.. i think they are not powerfull enough, i mean... in my opinion.. i think this is good for on-road use only, but for off-road (trial coarse) you need a gear ratio at least 100+:1! (one reason why you add that 50T spur gear?)... and i just found out that the more driving axle.. say for example ... 4x4, 6x6 or 8x8... the more torque you need from the motor! or it demands more power from the motor and to solve the problem, you have to reduced gear ratio to the lowest or install a bigger powerfull motor.. i smoked another good servo electronics on this , i guess i have to settle with a 5amp rc plane ESC and hope that i could make this ESC go reverse.

KILLER-
i posted a thread, tttt part kits. the link to the website has information and faq section on motors for multi axel trucks. they sell some great looking drivetrains and axels. i'm not wild about the plastic chassis's but i would live to get the dimensions to make one out of brass plate. maybe one of us could get one and share the info i'm really interested in getting some things from this place. i'm hoping tiny can get some or i will just order myself. (i asked, and they do accept oversea's order and accept paypal)

thanks Arch,
but i heard from Thorsten (if i remember it right) that the parts they made are not that of good quality, or doesn't last that long (he said that the front driving axle last for only a few runs and broke down ) that's the reason why i made my own u-joint, so i can enjoy 1/87 all-wheel-drive to the fullest .

Fastboy,

can you show us some pics of the parts that they (TTTTparts.org) made, or give us a review about their products, i'd like to get one of those geartrains, co'z setting up gears to mesh properly takes lots of time to build , with those gear trains, it may save me number of hours on the drawing board, but i'd rather spend hours tinkering with gears to mesh, than spent my rc money for something that would break easily ... thanks in advance!
