Im sure that the more coils that you have, the stronger the magnetic effect, so therefore thinner wire = more turns= stronger force, not sure about how the power usage is.

Mayb those with monster truck bits could make stronger steering using this.

I originally wrote the guide for those who had broke their original coils trying to get them out of the chassis.

But you can also make stronger coils by having more turns than the originals have, which means using thinner wire!

Also, you can make your own coils, so that if u had a custom chassis, the custom chassis could have its own set, rather than ruining the originals!

Ok, I think that less turns of thicker wire would be more powerful. Think about a 1/10 r/c car motor. A 12 turn motor is more powerful than a 20 turn motor... The thicker wire with less turns provides less resistance and therefore, more current. More current is more power.

I was wondering... For my Char-Pan (pan style bit) chassis, I need some coils for a custom steering setup. I already have a few clones at my disposal, so i'd like to use those coils if at all possible. Has anybody found a good way to get these out? They seem to be glued in, so is there a solvent that will dissolve the glue but not the enamel on the wire? Failing this, I guess i'm gonna make some, but I sure would like to use the ones i've got.

There is glue remover for superglue, but I dont think these cars have sg holding in the coils, its some funny glue.

Shame you don't live nearer, cos I'd post u some Id made!

Try using my guide, Im sure that it will help, its at the beginning of this post, IM SURE that more turns= more magnet power,

so therefore thinner wire would be better, as to fit (FOR EXAMPLE) 50 turns of thick wire in a bit would b impossible, cos it'd b so big!

Where 50 turns of the thin enamelled copper would b smaller.

I'm saying less turns of thicker wire... Could be made the same size. I'm gonna look into this somewhere cuz nobody seems to believe me. I found a possible source for coils and other electronic goodies, like surface mount resistors and capacitors, a little mic, little speaker, red led and two green ones, really tiny momentary pushbutton switch, and transistors. The source is the little TOMY monster things with the voice command, and they have 2 coils, but they are larger, .33 dia instead of the .23 dia coils in my clone. They are housed in some little plastic bits but it would be really easy to get them out or just whittle away most of the plastic. Since they are bigger, they wont fit in the front of the bit chassis, but i'm going to attempt to use them and the square magnets that came in the monster thing (sorry, forgot the name of the toy but the particular one i have is "sumo") for the Bit Char-GT pan car. The square magnets look good cuz i'll be able to glue on the sides of them easier, where on the bit magnets, it is round, and would be harder to glue a flat peice to.

Well in my physics classes (college versions) we discussed that a thinner wire with more wraps will always achieve a better electromagnet than the thicker wire with the same size (few wraps).

I forget the formula, but i'll look into getting it.
