really? huh, thats interesting. So theoretically, simply dying...say plastic...could significantly change its heat transition properties?

I put the brown one on my Bit Char-G. Doesn't seem to do anything. I think the different heat sinks are made of dfferent metals. Copper is the best. I don't know what each one is made of though.

I was thinking the differences in the K.I.T. motor retainers might have to do with the way the gears mesh. I have not had a chance to check the spacing between the pinion (gear on the motor shaft) and spur gears. But the different clips may affect how tight the gears mesh.
If the mesh is tighter it would make the car run faster (I think).

Sounds reasonable.

well, if the mesh is tighter, the gears bind up a little and make the motor work harder...so as far as i can see the best way would be loose but not too loose, the way that creates the least resistance.

I got the Energi K.I.T. Racer. The curved heat sink looks rather cool. Some OEM cars have a curved heat sink, but they might not fit. My frind has one of those and it doesn't fit for his car is slightly longer so the heat sink is longer.

I got the RPM KIT Racer, and I love the dark coated heatsink!
It works perfectly and looks killer!
I don't see much difference between the motor and my Zip Zaps NOS motor though.

All of my Microsizers have these "custom" heatsinks in them.
I've noticed no difference. But I like the way the curved heatsink snugly holds the engine in place.

I think only the curved ones would provide any real additional cooling ability. Just makes sense, with more contact.

So instead of whipping out $$$ can I just whip out my sharpie marker?

the only way i think the heatsink would realy help is n an endurance race...an endurance race would kinda be stupid cuz u have to keep on charging like every 2 laps...if the heatsinks really made a diffrencs they should be made out of gold(like some engine parts of a mcleran f1)pure gold...first so they would take in the heat and second so i could be rich!!

Pretty much.
The only way you'd need it to act like a real heat sink is if real heat is being generated, like in a two or three battery mod.
With the minimal contact most make, I think they really should be called motor clips.
It does far more motor holding than heat dissapating on any given day!

agreed
Yes, I agree with strider. If I didn't have my "heatsink", my motor would not be held down!
