Here's an old thread from the Epoch gallery that shows some cool bodies fitted to Epochs from AMT 1/43 model kits. I think I'll look around and see what AMT has to offer.

Yeah I saw a Cararra (sp) Vanquish body that fits. On one of the other forums.
I think if one takes the time, there are lots of options out there.
I am posting my body lowering tutoria for teh v12. SUPER easy. and cannot be seen.

"Shotgun" mod/upgrade that LBRC has.
|
That's very impressive. Nice machine work as well.
I was looking at the "Turbo" mod (another great idea that I've filed away) and was wondering if it acts like a real turbo and kicks in at full throttle, or is it more of a fet mod to make overall motor speed/torque better?

I will making my purchase soon enough...
A return to the Dual Cell saga. Went to Batteries + and got 1/3aaa but the dude gave me the wrong ones. (not 10aaaHR or whatever) and tried them out. Poof of smoke from the board....whoa. Check connections...poof of smoke from the TX. So...looks like I have alot to learn here.
Anyway...Im going to keep hunting for the right batteries.
Can either of you tell me the Battery number...as it would seem that not all 1/3aaa are not created equal.
I have some cash in my paypal, so if either of you have an extra or two you wanna send my way...It would be much appreciated...but not a nessesity (sp) Its going to be a super clean set up with a cool looking battery terminals stolen from the junked motorworks.

Which batteries do you need again? I have lots of SE batteries, but used my last original Zip battery to fix my son-in-laws car.

I need 2 of something that will work in a OGZZ for a dual cell set up. SE's wont work correct?

I don't know. I've never tried to do it. I would think SE batteries are way to wide to fit in the chassis. But, I'm wondering if the SE battery can be seperated into two and crammed in there side by side. Hold on...
Tried it. I cut an SE battery's shrink wrap and just bent it back so they set side by side. The series connection is already there for you.
Looks like it will work. You might even get the PCB back on the right way round since these seem to take up less room that two OG cells. You'd have to solder wires to the batts pos. and neg. terminals since the stock battery connections in the chassis won't work anymore.
I've got several of these if you want a couple. Just email me at stopmo1959@yahoo.com.

Thanx for looking into that. But will I get the dual cell bump in speed by doing this? Or just better battery life?
Pardon any of my ignorance...or the ignorance of my ignorance.
What is the battery number on that battery?

Here's how they fit in an OG Zip chassis.

Should act like a dual cell. You got 2.4VDC @ 70 mA. I don't remember what the current rating is on the OG batteries, so I'm unsure of runtime. I'd think it would be the same as a stock OG Zip though.
You'll have to wire up a new charging jack for the car though. I would retrofit an OG charging jack onto an SE TX and use it for charging only. This way you get the voltage you need to charge the dual cell and you don't have to worry about timing the charge cycle manually.
Or, you can put 2 SE batteries in there. I'm pretty sure they would fit. You hook the two sets of two in parallel and you got a dual celled car with twice the runtime. Of course, a custom charger would be needed for this. Or, maybe a double charge on the previously mentioned setup.

The stock OGZZ are 70mha So the SE batt will deliever the 2.4v which will give it the juice (correct) and haveing 160mah x2 would give a little longer life? Oui?
This is whats in there now

Yes, but you are also doubling the current so you will get double the runtimes too.
EDIT: This is incorrect. With a stock SE battery in an OG Zip, you get dual cell speed and torque, but slightly less runtime as the O battery (assuming the O battery is 100mA).

Around 4 times as long as I figure it. But don't mix the two differing batteries in the same car.

Yeah I wont do that again. Whatever I got yesterday was very wrong..almost fried something.
I plan on taking my Motorworks charger and making a new charger. Im gonna see if the Batt plus has the ones I need I may take you up on that battery offer. I appreciate it.

Hehe, confusing ain't it...Here's more info.
First, check out the HowStuffWorks page about Batteries:
http://home.howstuffworks.com/battery1.htm
Pay special attention about connecting batteries in "Series" (you don't have to pay too much attention to "Parallel" setup as 99% of people that do the dual-cell (or more cells) do it in Series)
How that correlates to the RC cars is:
- Batteries in Parallel (add the maH capacity) = Longer runtime (because of higher capacity), but same speed
- Batteries in Series (add the voltage) = Same runtime as before, but considerably faster speed
So...
You, pretty much, have it correct. If you stuck an SE Battery (2.4v @ 70maH) into an OGZZ, you would be doubling the voltage and thereby increasing the speed. If you opted instead to get 2 of the 160maH batts (which are 1.2v @ 160maH each) and soldered them together in Series (thereby making a pack that is 2.4v @ 160maH) then you'd be getting the increased speed AND longer runtimes...But the 160maH batts are considerably bigger! so keep that in mind.
Hope all that makes some sense.
