Oh I see, yeah if it's modded then I'm sure an xmod could be better. I'm hoping the steering upgrade fixes my problem. I even took the car and controller apart looking for pots that might further adjust the steering range but no luck. If I could somehow lengthen the arm on the servo and mount the servo a little higher that should give it more range but maybe that would bog the servo motor down.

I think Towerhobbies has the MR-02 but it's still like $150+.

Yep, when I put the awd kit in I gave the servo a good look-see. It looks like the original design had the the servo upright, look at the molded under portion of the front top chassis plate. But the servo that's in place is purpose built for with a step to clear the lower control board, and has the control arm in the lower position.

If the control arm had been on top, the throw would have been longer, hence more steering. There are also limit ears on the servo case itself. I wonder if these were cut off, would the throw go wider or would it throw so far as to come out of the tie rod slot?

Also if the knuckle slots were shorter, closer to the axle, then the throw would be magnified.

Just thinking out loud.......
