The screw that holds the suspension box closed has nothing to do with steering, ive driven my bits just fine without it. I'm also having steering problems now with my GTR with Spring suspension. Only the problem isn't centering, its just that it turns right a lot harder and turns left very slowly and loosely. This could be because the springs i used are steel and attracted to magnets, but even when i take the springs off this problem remains there.
Suspension is a weird thing to mess with sometimes , when I open up the suspension box, take it all out then reassemble it, it handles completely differently.
The only thing i guess i could suggest is to double up onyour steering spring, (someone suggested this earlier) ofcourse that wouldmake your car not turn as hard (aimed more towards drag racing) but would help centering, and reduce spin-outs.
NOTE: i did the spring suspension mod , in conjunction with tab lowering, which sometimes reduces the amount that the stabisus can give-way, therefore making turns less tight.

It's now in top drag race condition, handles perfectly.
