Orange Thing

The orange thing is a connector i have two one for + and one for - for my six cell upgrade of course The only other thing is allot of modifing to get the middle gear to stay put , and making something to hold the motor in place . It's kinda a rough job right now but i plan to make it simpler . If you look at the motor under the 2 brass clamps I have holding it down I had to cut up some Xmod tires for the rubber to help hold it in place . The nexted time I take it apart I will get more detailed Pics for ya . It's just the thing is running so smoothly"AND FAST " right now I dont want to take it back apart . I have to move my six cell from under the roof to the back bumper .

So...it's an HPI motor, which oscillates at how many rpm?
Is it that great? I'm clearly not well-informed.

Trying to find the RPM 's for ya

Hello - I've been trying to find thge Rpm's for ya but been having no luck . I was hoping to here from NEURO on this . Was wondering what he tought ? Also I found a bigger motor called the Team Orion Big Block for $37.00 bucks that I will be getting 2 . finally the best I can tell ya for know is that these motors are for a RC car called a Micro RS4 and that is a 1/18 scale car . So i'am quessing that since I'am putting a 1/18 scale motor in a 1/28 scale car it's going to fly FLY "FLY" ! ! ! ! ! You should hear this motor it just sounds fast !!!

i hope it doesnt' draw too much current or you'll fry your fets and will need to do neuro's external fet upgrade. that thing should have the torque and rpm's to simply rip apart the drivetrain, from the gears to the diff to the wheels themselves lol. if it doesn't rip apart the drivetrain, hope you got the traction to put that power down. i like how you're using another gear between the motor and the bevel gear, that means the motor will run in the intended direction. good luck with it and keep us posted!

Nice, those are some innovative mods!

Making that round motor fit looks a bit more difficult than the 260 motor idea I had, which wouldn't require the extra gear. I think the best way to make that motor work is by making a custom aluminium motor mount so that the motor can be fastened securely, and also the shaft for the second gear can be attached to the mount as well.

The metal axles are a great idea. I wouldn't be surprised if something like that starts getting mass-produced.

hey neurokinetic, ive heard youve got that external fet mod going... hows the performance, what are the codes for them, and also with your orion stock 180 motor, how did you rebuild it, did you simply deduct winds?

btw i want to see your best vs a miniz with nmls best should be a good 1

OK, it should be interesting to see how you plan to fit that into an XMod, and still run the stock body without having to resort to a body lift.

FET mod doesn't really make much difference in performance, it just allows for hotter motors. I have three different Team Orion 180 motors right now. One is stock, one is hand wound with 30 turns of 26Ga, and the other is handwound with 35 turns of 28Ga. Previously, I had used one with 10 turns removed from stock. That was a really good combo.

I'm still waiting for that matchup to happen. Actually, I want to run an NML XMod first.

You guys need to look at a Peak Turbo Coreless Micro Modified. It's just a little longer (1-1/8 long, 1-3/8 with shaft, and 53/64 dia.) then a 130 but will still fit in a RSX. The only problem is that it's also round needing an idler. I purchased this motor for my Losi Mini-T, which it will not work in. It propelled the little truck very well but not fast enough.

Eazy To Do

Just use a pinion puller . You can get them at your local hobbie shop or order them off the web .

A Puller is the only safe/reliable way to remove a pinion. There are other methods, however you could remove it by force, but you run the risk of ruining the motor you are removing the pinion from. Some have posed that if you heat the pinion you may be able to remove it, but no one has claimed success with that method yet. I'll be getting a pinion puller myself. (Unless I can find some replacement pinions)

Improved Second gear holding set up

I improved my set up for holding the second gear It's not done yet , but I have been so buzy . With this set up I think I might be able to get some real small bearings to hold the second gear shaft too. I also have a few more idea's for some pretty cool stuff in my head but haven't had time to produce anything yet

what are you doin about the gear ratio though, the 180 motors are not that much faster than 130 but they have loads more torque. you could put that extra torque to use
