I don't know if it is necessary to use the primer on the Xmods bodies, but I didn't want to take the chance. I never used it on the Zips, but those were a different type of plastic.
If I remember correctly, the primer was around $5-6 a can, but the can was bigger than the paint.

yeah to bc, it's quite a hassle using the airbrush. i remember last time i found some of my dads paint thinner he uses on real cars (he's a real life car buff) and i used it for the airbrush. The disposable plastic cup that the thinner was in got melted and i had a big thinner leak lol. but the nice, even, super-thin coats that i get from alot of thinner is good for me, i tend to overspray alot. also, word of advice, for anyone who does have an airbrush or you're going to get one, if you switch color canisters, spray/let the airbrush run for a few seconds just shooting it against newspaper or something, make sure you get all the old color out.
i need a new compressed air canister for my airbrush , and i couldnt find a micron 005 pen, but i got a .3mm, should do the job.

One thing I forgot to mention...
I usually heat a cup of water up...about a minute on high in the microwave, and let the can of paint sit in it about 10 minutes or so. This is supposed to thin out the paint and make it spray more evenly without splattering.

well i was quite disappointed witrh the spray selection at hobbytown. they had the ts color chart there but no tamiya spray paint lol. so i ended up buying a mix of several different spray brands. hope they turn out ok together... shouldnt be a problem and if anything goes wrong theres always brake fluid...

Testors, allways works like a dream.
I've got dark blue with a shiny clear overcoat.
The nice thing about testors is that you can get the spray paint and the enamel paint to match it so you can do touch up work if the paint gets messed up, or for filling in the cracks better, or for whatever.
Plus this paint is readily avaible EVERYWHERE. Wallmart has the stuff in most stores, check the models sections at the back of the store, usualy in the middle of the toys.
High quality, decent price, Testors all the way!

I agree about Testor's. A lot of people are down on Testor's but the trick is you really need to thin it, almost 50/50. The other Testor's lines like Model Master and Boyd's can airbrush right out of the jar, but those little jars need thinning.

You can buy Tamiya paint in rattle cans if you want. I wouldn't recommend spraying in the cold, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do. Try bathing the can in hot water for a couple minutes before you paint.
